Skills not responding still not solved

I had hoped the ZOS would have fixed the issues that every one in a while some skills are not responding. (I’m on PS4).

But this afternoon, I noticed it again. I was farming with my dual wield stamNB (and main crafter) and some wasps attacked me. I started with Shrouded daggers which worked, then I press the button for Whirlwind Blades and nothing happened. I saw that the skill was activated in their skill bar, but the actual animation for didn’t happen, nor was the damage applied. And I had enough stanima.

But it is not always that same skill that doesn’t respond. It varies which skill it is. And in the past, it also happened with another character which is a magSorc using staffs. I already made a bug report about it, but it seems that was ignored.

Am I the only one still experiencing this issue?

Try pvping in Vivec. Happens all the time when you're in the middle of fighting.

I'm on PC NA and have been having this happen recently. Plus my bar swap isn't always working and light and heavy attacks with lightning staves is an issue. I was in a dungeon last night that I've run many times and between the lag and the combat issues I looked like I had never played the game before.

Its been awful since the latest update. Nothing like watching DOTs tick on you and you cant cast a heal or purge.

Are all of you using a gamepad by chance? I haven’t used keyboard/mouse in this game so I don’t know if it happens there but gamepad it happens often enough. I do feel like it occurs more when I PvP but that may be because I’m trying to hit the buttons faster.

All mouse and keyboard for me. Its probably not your gamepad buttons. Although; if you keep mashing them out of frustration it soon could be.

I don’t mash out of frustration, just faster because pvp play is faster in general.

Pets teleporting, heavy attacks not work sometimes, +ALOT ETC they don't care only CROWN $TORE

Agreed. Input lag on the ps4 can be horrible.

I'm on PS4 too and sometimes the skills won't activate or the animation doesn't show or it will go off 2-5 seconds later. My ults usually take 3-7 presses to go off with a new controller. Occasionally I get lucky and things work normally.

I thought this was normal.

In my experience, it's been like this since day one.

It is especially noticeable on my MagSorc where my shield does not trigger even though I see the key press activation on the skill bar. occasionally it can take 2-3 key presses for the shield to actually activate.

For me anyway, the issue is lag/latency.

Slowing down key-presses usually means a skill is more likely to activate. It's gotten to the point where I am very methodical with my key strokes. Getting the timing right to compensate for high latency has taken a lot of practise over 2 years. I now know how slow I need to key press to ensure the skill actually happens. It is frustrating though and it seriously affects DPS.

My guess is that the client side keystroke is being registered locally but server-side it is slow to respond. If the response from the server is too slow, the skill won't activate.

I notice this more when blocking (or attempting to block.) Even though I have my block activated, quite often a hit will still hit my character as though I didn't block at all. This is because my reaction time is quicker than my ping. The server hasn't received the block notification from client-side before the server registers the hit.

It does mean learning to pre-empt skills is essential. Which is fine with NPCs who are fairly automated and predictable, but almost impossible in PvP where players are genuinely random.

Your experience may differ, but that is what I am seeing in my high-latency environment.

So without any access to server statistics, I am going to say the issue for most is probably because of server lag.

Keep an eye out, im going to be posting a video soon of vivec tonight. If you see it let me know if its similar to what you mean. Thread will probably be something like " this game has *** peformace"..

I'm using a keyboard and mouse and it's during PvE.

Funny you mention that, i notice mine usually happens when using vigor in combat and cloak has been practically useless for me

LOL Thats exactly what I was thinking about. Ive hit vigor and its not firing, and then try to cloak to supress and let vigor heal and neither goes. Not much better on my stamplar trying to hit extended then vigor
