Jewelry Crafting Still Broken

Please spread the word so ZOS acts. Make this the number one talk in the forums because something needs to be done. Lowering the amount to 4 plantings must only be the start. This is still by far the most intense grind in the game. It takes days of farming just to get a single piece gold or roughly 320k. Most players in this game, even the maxed CP players such as myself, do not have the time nor should require the patience for this crap. We have farmed enough. Make Jewelry crafting just like any other craft. This is still insanely ridiculous. Get rid of grains all together, and bump it back to 8 or even 10 plantings. Something. ANYTHING.

well the problem is, if you tryin to create legendary jewelry for 14 chars, then of course it feels like a never ending grind.

if you "only" working towards one char, then the grind wont be long, since you yourself stated it takes days, that means in a week or two your char will have 3 legendary jewelry, and the grind stops

dont get me wrong I have 12 chars, if I was to get them all legendary jewelry then it will take the air out of me, but they dont make this game in order for you to fast track to endgame gear on more then 1 char, which they shouldnt either

It'd go a long way of extracting materials from existing jewelry gave a full plating instead of a grain. Heck, I can't even upgrade anything to purple... never mind gold. XD

I agree - grinding has its place and I enjoy it actually. However, that said, the amount needed is too much. I think you guys (ZoS) use it too much as a crutch to put people on a treadmill. Gear treadmills are important - but there does come a point where it surpasses the redundancy that is indicative with treadmills.

Concentrate more on making fun small group content -- if you are that desperate for something for people to do -- then adding a ultra grind to every single aspect of the game.

see but that's the thing. Nobody who has gotten to the point that we have in this game has done it without some kind of intense grind. I mean, I've been playing this game for 3 years and only just recently got to max CP. That alone is a grind in itself. But if I put three years into a game, I should be able to either have the time or resources to acquire the necessary gear for ALL of my characters, whether by gold or by simply farming. I mean, you get 4 temps to every 1 grain... not even plating but grain. It's insane. Days is a relative term. You have to be lucky and probably farm for at least 6-8 hours to have a chance at getting gold gear in a couple weeks. There are grinds that suck, like farming trial gear for instance. Trials are hard. But its so much more rewarding to say, "I got my incredible gear by slaying the biggest and baddest of bosses," rather than, "Oh yeah I ran around in Hew's Bane for 48 hours." Like??? Choose your grinds. Good gear should be more concentrated on being acquired by completing tasks that not every player in the game can do. Much less take as long as it does for Gold Jewelry.

For instance. One of the best things ZOS did in this game is add perfect and imperfect gear. The people who can farm 3+ Cloudrest on Vet deserve the better gear than the ones who can only do Normal, or 0+. It was a great idea: it's a terrible grind, but potentially a fun one. More importantly, it makes sense. Furthermore, the difference between yellow and purple jewelry is just not enough to put in as much as you need to for this grind! It's worth it for clothing, or blacksmithing, because it's not impossible to acquire the yellow mats. It takes a little time sure but its just so much more doable.

    I disagree.

I can put legendary weapons and armor on multiple characters within a weekend play, but I'm now into months since Summerset released and I only have:
    1 gold plate
    2 purple plates
    16 blue plates
    56 green plates

    ONE. GOLD. PLATE.

    Thousands of grains refined.

This grind is punishment to the players.

ZoS is giving us more grains. Great? Not unless the yield table is modified to increase the chance to refine Chromium.

Based on what I refined last night: they weren't changed.

Yep my dreams of golding out my Necro jewellery or making some sweet Julianos in gold have well and truly been dashed. Been playing Summerset since early access and I got my first and only gold plating yesterday. I don't grind that much so I probably could have got more, but in the available time I have to play, I want to, you know, play.

    that bit in bold...

i've played this game since pre-release.

well over the cp cap, grand master crafter etc, etc, etc.

in this game i have done no grinding whatsoever. none. ever.

Once upon a time there was Vetran ranks and after hitting vr14 they released vr16... on top of that there was CP with no cap....

But you can't be bothered to grind some gold or mats because it takes you too long? 320k doesn't take more than a few hours to grind.

Just ask ZOS to give you and instant gratification easy button geez.

I don't see how "broken" is the right word when it seems to function as intended.

"Frustrating" seems appropriate, along with "expensive" or "grindy," but it's not broken.

I've upgraded a few jewelry pieces to gold. It's certainly not something to be done lightly.

I completed my first JC master writ today. I got 63 vouchers for an epic ring of Julianos in protective. Before the patch, I just sold them or gave them away. It did take all the zircon I had.

I've been grinding dolmens and jewellery seams for 3 months, and I've only got enough zircon to upgrade ONE piece to purple. I agree this is still ridiculous. I think they should either do away with the grains system completely, or at the very least reduce number of grains required; say, 10 grains give 3 platings.

I just got a master writ for an epic ring, worth 34 vouchers. I only have 5 zircon platings, so I question whether it's worth it.

...you mean, jewelry crafting stuff is, like, as rare as... precious metals?
    The outrage!
    How dare they!
Why is not not as common as iron or wood!
    Waaaaahhhhh!
    ...
...at least that is what I think when I read that sort of rant...

And considering how many times I read "Oh, noes, Jewelry crafting is gunno ruin the game economy, ZOS don't do it!" before they went ahead and did it... I can see how they thought it prudent as well as immersive to make it a bit on the grindy side...

    It’s not fun.

I had about 80 jewelry crafting writ containers, about 20 in each char, and I had about 1500 platinum dust. From 150 refinements I got 3 chromium grains in total, which works out to be a 2% chance, roughly. As for the containers, I had 22 rank 5 containers, 20 rank 3, 22 rank 2, and 22 rank 1. From all of those containers, I got a total of 9 grains. The chromium grain totals, rank 1: 1, rank 2: 0, rank 3: 1, rank 4: 3, rank 5: 4.

I can't guarantee that the odds from the writ containers are accurate; I had a writ quest I started prior to the update, and finished after the update. When I turned in my items, I still received the excess inspiration, and upon completing the current day's quest I did not get the excess inspiration. I took this to mean that the loot table for the pre-patch writ containers carried over their loot tables post-patch, because when I turned in the current day writ quest items, I got a chromium grain. The only thing that makes me believe that these 20 containers might be based on post-patch loot tables is the fact that all the writ containers I opened that contained grains, contained chromium grains.

Ultimately, I think that the most reliable approach is going to be sourcing them from other people and guild traders. It's the only surefire way of accelerating the process, and saving up cash isn't too hard. So, jewelry crafting has daunting odds, but it's not impossible. Also, I'm not really supporting the difficulty here, but Jewelry is special in that you can get bonuses that are sometimes only found on certain armor types, without wearing that type of armor by slotting the set in your jewelry and weapon slots. So, it should be kinda rare, no?

Fine as is. Gold jewerly has allways been 'hard' too obtain. And frankly, I think they should keep being abit 'hard' or 'grindy' to get. But thats just my opinion.

I don't even want to upgrade heaps of purple jewelry to gold. I've been playing since launch & already have most CP160 drop set jewelry I want in either purple or gold. What I want to be able to do with jewelry crafting is make craft set jewelry & improve it to either blue or purple for my under level 50 characters to use. At the moment, I still don't have enough purple platings to improve one ring from blue to purple with 100% success! I could currently improve 8 white rings from white to green before ALL of my green platings are depleted. I could improve 3 green rings from green to blue before I burn through all my blue platings.

The whole 10 grains = 1 plating system is overkill. I am 100% sure that this IS intentional... just like the decision that jewelry that was farmed prior to Summerset patch can't be deconned. Obviously, ZOS want players to be actively farming all the time... keeps them busy on the treadmill of pointlessness. However I feel like this grind goes way too far.

When the One Tamriel patch came out, I did the massive PVE grind of dungeons, world bosses, dolmens & trials to get the set pieces I wanted. At first it was glorious to be able to actually get 5 x set pieces together... but after 1000 or so dungeons... I never want to farm again! There is zero enjoyment in it for me. That's how I currently feel about jewelry crafting... I have ideas of what I want to do with it, but the grind is just not worth the gain.

If you don't have the time, that isn't ZOS's fault. The game isn't designed around how much time YOU have to play, and the resources are there, you just need to invest the time to get them, just like any other crafting skill, it's not like they aren't available.

I agree that there is a bit much required, but you're sounding like you expect the game to cater to you.
