I just put an rubber band around one of my analogs to hold it down so my pov spins but not my character. Will keep you logged in until the controller times out. I'm sure you can do something similar on pc. Be creative.

Except if you do this they could ban you for breaking TOS.

If I get a ban for idling, I'll gladly take my money elsewhere.

not for idling, but for using an outside influence to "play" or "stay active" on the server while you aren't there. The amount of time it takes varies, or does for me, and it's probably based around load balancing.

Oh PC bots are far more advanced and sophisticated than your silly console bots.

Is THIS legal according to ToS?

    If yes, I'll buy one.

You can use a child's vibrating crib thing and put mouse in it. Or get a mouse jiggler. It's a USB device that emulates a mouse and moves cursor ever so slightly at intervals. Also fun around the office. We had one idiot at my office it stayed in his PC for a month and he involved management and everyone to replace his mouse and everything. I call him an idiot, because he was supposed to be an IT technician with a rather high title and pay grade... As in enough to know that there is no failure mode of the mouse that doesn't involve a piece of hair in the sensor that would cause the cursor to move a quarter inch. He even figured out that it was at exact two minute intervals...

So yeah... Guy doesn't work here anymore. Or play ESO. Otherwise I'd keep that story to myself.

IF you have a home and fast travel to it before doing your business you should be able to idle in the home without any logoff. Sometimes it will log you out... but in my experience not for literal hours.

How long can we be Away From Keyboard? I have diabetes and on bad days I need to go to the bathroom a lot. Since I only do PvE I know it's not an issue it doesn't bother anyone. But I just like to know if I need to keep logging off or can I just be in a safe spot and be AFK. I just like to know what the limit of inactivity is and is there a penalty for doing so?

I have never been kicked for BIO Breaks. Even the more lengthy version. I have also made a snack, answered the phone, did a work email, not while in the bathroom mind you.

Basically, figure on 10 minutes before your kicked to login screen. Sometimes it is longer to kick if your in a quiet zone. The worse that can happen is you may have to queue to get back in.

If you get killed by a MOB while AFK, you may get kicked to Logout quicker. So, as you say, be in a Safe place before you AFK. Although, I have had MOBs spawn in what I thought was a safe place....Next to the entrance to a Delve, Inside or Outside, is always safe and Wayshrines or Cities/Towns is always safe.

Use to be you could open a dialog with a Merchant and stay in the game for a long time, but most the NPCs move around now.

The only issue I see with taking a brief AFK is if your in a Group, you may get kicked if your lack of activity is impacting the group's goals or activities.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    Greetings,

We have closed this topic as it was originally created in August 2018. In many cases, it's better to create a new thread on a topic that you want to discuss as opposed to bumping one that is rather old.

    Thank you for your understanding.
