Oblivion had a lot off color and life in it, I enjoyed walking about the towns listening in on conversations.
But with skyrim all the npcs felt like emotionless zombies, and every nord and high elf was literally the same character, nothing unique about them at all.

My first TES game was Morrowind.

Morrowind: Do you remember how hard that game was in the beginning? Oh my, how many times I died trying to clear that first cave. The fact that I had low health + weakness to fire, frost, lightning did not help either. But as time went by, my character grew, and finally he became a demi-god in sheer power :-). I loved doing the mages guild quests. Oh and one could make his own spells. Oh and one could float above the ground: Levitating. Don't you love levitating?

Oblivion: I liked the main storyline in Oblivion, but the planes of Oblivion were a bit too generic (too much of the same).
I also liked that wheel to get better standing with NPC's. Sometimes those NPC's said: You are a big fat liar. I sometimes say this to my husband, lol ;-).

Skyrim: I think I love Skyrim the most. Because I understood the lore better. Superb graphics. You set out to do a quest, and then you find some beautifull place to visit, you dwell of into nature, to find a cave,...and a few hours later you had forgotten that quest that you were supposed to do. Also: That big underground cave: gorgeous!

For some reason I favored High Elves (so much magicka in Morrowind) and I still do. My first character in any TES game is allways an Altmer. I really dreamed of seeing Summerset some day, and well...my dream came true with ESO :-)
I truly hope they will introduce some things to ESO from the other games: Spellcrafting, Levitating, Telekinesis. I also hope there will be improvements to trading (maybe you could spent CP in trading skills, to get some awesome skill perk).
And so the Elder Scrolls foretold. You will be shy, and I will be bold.

I tried Morrowind but couldn't get into it since it felt so clunky. I learned later that people really loved it, so if there's ever a revamped Skyrim-style edition, I'll snatch it up at once.

So the first one that I actually played was Skyrim. Inspired by Skyrim, I played Oblivion - other than Sheogorath expansion, since although he's funny to an extent, too much is just too much. Oblivion felt primitive but was playable, barely. I disliked the repetitive closing of the anchors even when game was set at easiest for the duration. Again, if they ever make a shiny new edition, I will absolutely buy it.

Skyrim was my first elder scrolls game someone at work told me about it so i tried it out it was a very fun game the story telling plus i love dragons so that even made me like it more then the fact i figured out that i could become a werewolf or vampire then later on a vampire lord skyrim was amazing and it brings back so many great memories for me :) i just wished eso had a little more of what skyrim had especially when it comes to werewolves i ain't a roleplaying type person but i use to love being able to turn into a werewolf unlimitedly in skyrim with the ring of hircine i wish zos would make werewolves in eso the same and not make it a ultimate like it is and for vampires make a vampire lord form vampires in eso compared to skyrim vampires are boring you basically become one just for the passives you get and maybe add in some dragon mounts in eso and stop sticking to just reskinned old mounts it gets old i want to see more freedom for us players and the ability to make are own spells and not be locked to certain ones just because we want to play a certain class

My first tes 4 oblivion it was and still is my favourite wish it would be ported to PS4. I remember buying my ps3 and oblivion with knights of the nine dlc started it 2 weeks later got my first hd tv as they just came out the difference in graphics was unreal loved it played over 280 hours loved the dB and imperial city plus the horse such great quests and vampires were great . I then bought Morrowind cheap to run on my old laptop it was ok but I couldn’t get past the poor graphics . I then got Skyrim which was great dragons , graphics etc but thought it had something missing that oblivion had . Roll on tes 6 .

Started with Daggerfall, then played Battlspire which was the first TES Online game. Played some Redgaurd and Arena. Problem was back then, HDDs were expensive so games had to be uninstalled all the time to make room. Stipped gaming for a few years until Morrowind made me pick up the torch again.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Actually have a story about that... My mom had bought an Xbox 360 for my family when it was released. We were PS folks back then and it sat on the shelf for a year and never got used. We finally broke down and got Oblivion on sale for cheap to try and played it for a couple hours and red ring of deathed the xbox LOL. After getting it back from xbox, we fell in love with Oblivion and the xbox and put the PS aside. Although we do have a PS4, it hardly gets used (uncharted and last of us) Now that Tomb Raider is on xbox, we kinda just only play on the X1

We did try to play Morrowwind as hear it is better story etc, but the graphics were kinda hard to get past as it looked horrible :P

"Arena" was my first TES game. Mindblowing was the fact that the world was in...3 dimensions !! I could swing swords and throw spells in 3D for god's sake...and that in a vast vast immersive world where all npc's had dialogues and stories and even 3D dungeons with riddles inside them to solve in order to open doors !! The combination of all that that was completely nonexistent at the time and totally ground breaking !

Morrowind. It was my first Elder Scroll game and my gateway to video games on console. Before that I had only played a few adventure and horror games on my Mac. As bad as the combat got I loved Morrowind and still think there has been no main story as good as that one. I started it all over again when it became compatible on the Xbox One.

I find Oblivion to be the weakest. The leveling mess makes it more of a problem though I liked the main & mages quest lines. I have spent more time in Skyrim than any reasonable adult woman should admit to and yet, I disliked most of the quest lines in the base game. I strongly disliked the whole Civil War and never started it. I began the DB once because I was collecting Skill books and one was only in their HQ. I joined, killed everyone, and took the book. ESO, I drift in and out of since I'm not an end game player and mostly keep making new characters. I like making characters.

For me, it is The Elder Scrolls: Arena. Being able to play a D&D type of game on the PC alone was awesome. The graphics were great for it's time. The I can do what ever I wanted when ever I wanted and being in first person was so new and refreshing and other games didn't do this.

I could make my own weapons and armour. I CAN MAKE MY OWN SPELLS1 was AWESOME!!! Then moved onto Daggerfall, it added so much more to Arena.

So being able to go all over Tamriel was why I was so stoked with ESO. Sadly that wasn't the case and we were only stricken to our Alliance zone so the "go anywhere when you want" was gone what made TES so great. Once One Tamriel came out it brought the magic of Arena back to me.

Morrowind is GOAT. It was before they started making things level with you for all the soft noobs.

Uhm. You know Morrowind is a dumbed down version of Daggerfall right? That said I LOVE MORROWIND and agree it is GOAT.

All TES games are dumbed down or more "simpler" from each previous version. That said Bethesda still did something right because all their games are AWESOME and I love them all. Morrowind though is my GOAT though.

Elder Scrolls Oblivion was my first Elder Scrolls game. Was my first rpg. Can still remember not knowing what I was doing, being chased by wolves near anvil and running for characters life. Loved the fact the game had magic abilities. Eventually discovered addon's for the game which added a new dimension. Spent many hours playing. Restarting the game when near the end of the story. Hence it took a while for me to complete the game.

Daggerfall when I was 10 or 11, but I didn't really know what I was doing, or love the game. Just another random game I had growing up. When one of my best friends got Morrowind for Xbox years later, I was hooked immediately. I loved the Ultima games as a kid, King's Quest, I started playing Asheron's Call in 2001, I was into the fantasy genre. But Morrowind was just so different, ya know? Had never seen such a unique world before and everything about that game just sucked me in. I never had consoles growing up, had computers, but I convinced my parents to get me an Xbox for Christmas with Morrowind and my love for TES hasn't stopped since.

Unfortunately that was Skyrim like many others. I tried to play Oblivion with graphics mods to make it look better but it was still much more clunky and difficult to manage.

When i first played Skyrim i remember geeking out to my brother about how pretty the stream flowing out of Whiterun was. The game's environments enthralled me and i fell in love with the sense of wilderness every time i got lost in the woods. I was enjoying the world much more than the gameplay.

    Same here!

I purchased it, made it out of the cave and I see a bird flying into a tree. Every game in my experience, the birds are just background flavor. For the luls I shot an arrow into the tree... a bird and a nest fell out. My jaw dropped. I knew then and there that I’d never leave my room if I played that game and so I shelved it for a year lol. I finally got back into it and modded it somewhat, even tried to make my own mod (wanted a hunter’s pet). I got into ESO right before One Tamriel and never looked back.

    Morrowind.
Still my favourite because of the world-building and how alien the world was - xenophobic elves with grey skin dining on insect legs in mushroom towers overlooking lakes of lava! Plus, mods are great for Morrowind, and getting into modding quite easy.
Also the reason why I came back to ESO with the Morrowind chapter.

Oblivion was too generic. I find the standard pseudo-Western European high fantasy quite boring (even in ESO, Glenumbra and Stormhaven are ... dull), and even today, I cannot stand looking at those over-saturated, overly bloomey bloated balloon faces any more.
Skyrim was phenomenal again. Not as weird as Morrowind but sufficiently unique. Also, people who play TES games for the main quest don't understand what TES games are. ;)

Got into ESO mainly to see what the other parts of Tamriel looked like. Gave up on ESO only a few months later because it gated my sightseeing behind level advancement (that was back in 2014), until One Tamriel did away with that nonsense.

Daggerfall. It came preinstalled on this second hand HP computer that my grandpa bought for me when I was 12. My first ever PC with my first ever TES game.

Ofc, being a 12 year old boy with limited English... I had no idea what I was doing, and I died to almost everything in the game. Eventually I learned to make a custom class with Immunity to Paralysis (must have really) as well as how to properly use the Spell Crafter and Item Maker. I then made a custom Mage, levelled up and created all the necessary spells. And that char became the first one I managed to beat the game with (Blades ending)

And so, in this game, I'm playing as a Mage for the Daggerfall Covenant. In honor of that win :p

Elder scrolls morrowind was my first on the og xbox. It was my first large scale 3d game/ rpg. (my first 3d game was zelda Oot) i enjoyed the large scale open world, the class and quest system, ability to make your own class, and the guild system.

I enjoyed exploring and finding secrets being able to feel like i'm living in the world through my character.

around the time i was playing morrowind .hack started to become a thing and i was wanting to see a elder scrolls MMO. even keot telling mmp in ff11 how much id like to see it, maybe even get to see all of nations.

They told me it would never happen that the game world is too big.

with eso i waited till it got better, i wanted to play it at launch but when i found out they locked imperial behind CE, and saw reviews how badly they did the MMO part i passed. I enjoy it, and to me it feels like morrowind with the good bits of skyrim.
    When did you get eso?

around the morrowind launch walmart had it dirt cheap. around the time One tam happen on ps4. I play mmo on console.

i started gaming @ 3 years old in 1989, I got morrowind in 2003 for xbox after trying a friends copy. I was wow'ed by how big morrowinds world actually was, how the water effects world, the sights and sounds. a year while this went on i started to play .hack and watching the anime, and discovered the MMO, i didn't have a pc to play EQ. i started to play ff11 and met a guy through ff11 who also enjoyed TES we would talk of our enjoyment and we both got oblivion and shared our adventures.

we both hoped for a TES mmo as the game world seemed large enough for an MMO, had a ton of classes/ races. it just seemed to fit.

everyone we knew was saying an elder scrolls mmo would never happen XD but ya when it did happen, and a lot of the mmo parts were not really there I was disappointed. i was wishing for ESO since i was 21-24. I'm 33 now.

Daggerfall was my first, downloaded an demo after hearing a lot good about it and was grabbed.
Played all the games to death.
And yes the random dungeons was nice, not random like in ESO, the dungeon design was randomized and they was huge.

Hard to say who was my favorite, guess Oblivion
