Deconstructing Jewelry

This has probably already been done to death but I'm very sick of getting grains back now!

I accidentally made a swift ring for a writ the other day, I forgot I'd made a research piece for someone earlier and didn't check. I deconned it straight away and just got a grain back.

What on earth use it that?? You can't get swift grains unless you do what I did so I'd have to spend upwards of 180wv, or 450 transmute crystals, to ever be able to do anything with it - and that's just assuming I get a grain every single time.

I get why they added grains. They want jewelry crafting to be a last resort rather than making farming easy. And I know we only have ourselves to blame for trait stones being available as whole stones and not grains when they're bought. But surely there's a middle ground? Could they not also sell grains for 2wv? Or add a 2 hour cooldown where you can get the whole trait stone back if you decon.

Anything must be better than giving us back something we can never use!

Sell it in guild store. Some lucky basterd might collect 10 of them if he farms the whole server.

    Nevertheless, this is awkward. :p

It remembers the trait if you haven't logged out in between. I'd been logged on long enough that I'd forgotten I'd made something earlier. Usually writs are the first thing I do when I log on so I don't bother checking everything, just open up and make what I need. You don't need traits so I didn't scroll down that far.

It was bad luck that the one day I didn't do them straight away I'd also made something with an expensive trait.

I'm not saying it wasn't a stupid mistake that could've been avoided. But however it happened I don't see the point of giving back something that can't be used.

It seems pretty clear for me. They made a swift item for someone else earlier. When they went back to the station to make the item for a daily writ, where people are usually on autopilot, the trait stone remained at swift. Hence, accidental swift.

The actual mistake was deconning instead of selling the swift ring. Depending on server, they can be worth some serious coin.

Yep that was a massive mistake, can't believe I didn't think of it - made sooo much from swift at the start! Think I just panicked at having used my one spare (if I'd had more than one I wouldn't have noticed!) and forgot I wouldn't get the whole stone back :D

I’ve generally tried to be jovial on this forum, but I’m calling you out, sir. You know exactly how things are accidentally crafted. And materials get wasted. And I find it highly, highly unlikely that you’ve never once “accidentally” crafted something. I believe you are being intentionally obtuse and adding nothing to this conversation with your rhetorical question. And I mean that in the most literal sense. Your question was useless rhetoric.

You play dumb to make others feel bad and yourself superior. There’s a term for that. It’s called mental masturbation. And you’ve been caught doing it. In front of all of us.
