Is there a way for preexisting characters to receiving leveling-up rewards?

Nebiaia
Nebiaia
At some point I began receiving rewards each time one of my new character leveled-up. So I was wondering if my existing champion characters had a way to receive the same rewards?

No. At the time of introduction, Zeni stated the levelling rewards would not be retroactive. I suppose that doing so would give players with several characters a valuable windfall of gold and materials without having to play the game to get them. Everyone stared the levelling reward system on a um... level playing field.

The problem with this is that...well, no.

They did play the game much more than 50 levels.

Plus when a system that affects levels similar to this is implemented, there was a precedent for compensation. Namely, when vet ranks were turned into CP, you got a number of CP PER veteran rank you had on your account. I.e., you had 8 v16s you got a lot of experience.

So something as minor as gold and things like the Prisoner costume are not game breaking.

Garahel Dravic -- Level 50 Bosmeri Nightblade (EP)
Tamriel Unlimited was a mistake. One Tamriel was a bigger mistake

I lean towards Zeni's policy on this one. With 8 maxed characters at time of introduction, retroactive levelling rewards just didn't seem of any value to me. The gold and mats were pocket change. I understand the viewpoint, however, of players who who like receiving every coin and honing stone possible.

    they are character progression rewards....

    intended to reward new players.

if you are cp160 or beyond that stuff is of no particular use, but for a player at lvl10, 20, 30 etc it is useful.

Not leveling per se, but you can still earn the "colors" on the outfit/dye station if you haven't maxed on everyone.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

This wasn't intended for veteran players who didn't need the rewards, it was intended for new players as an introduction to the different facets of the game. However, anyone who wants to get something like the free storage chest is perfectly welcome to roll a new character as the rewards are related to new characters, not simply new players.

They still could have made the rewards retroactive for what is NEEDED for an achievement, and the storage crate. Both of which have no other way to be obtained in game. Meaning you HAVE to purchase an extra character slot if you want the prisoners style items for the achievement and if you want to own every storage container.

Having to purchase an extra character slot is a feature, not a bug.

    Agree.

While it would have been nice to receive the rewards retroactively, I understand that they were not targeting me but instead new players.

Al least it gave me an incentive to try a couple classes out.

    ^This!^ ;)

The free stuff is pretty obviously intended to help new players catch up to the ones who already know the game in and out, but since new characters benefit... if you want the things, you would have to make a new character to get them. See those almost reasonably priced "additional character slot" thingies in the crown store? Yeeeeessss, they want you to spend crowns... what else is new? ;)

Good point on the storage container and prisoner's style. I overlooked those. Container should have been offered via the same options as the other seven, and outfit granted to all accounts with at least one level 50 character.

That implies you're a completionist, in which case you would presumably want/need to buy all available character slots anyway.

Gotta admit, I was thinking this... but you said it first.

    I award you an awesome!

What if you have all 15 slots maxed out?

Not possible. When the system was added the cap went from 14 to 15. So you could have had 14 maxed when the level up rewards were added, but you couldn't have been excluded entirely.
