If doing Trials im in standard Ebon/Alkosh and Pirate Skeleton or 1 piece warden/1piece domihaus/1 piecechokethorn

I like Lord Warden as it helps group survivability however it puts my Spell Resist way over cap

vDSA I usually run Ebon and leeching/baharas with pirate skele.

=== Argonian health/stam DK (my main tank currently, and the only one I do progression trials on) ===

    Usual trials setup:
    1. Ebon/PD (depending on what the OT wears and whether everyone will be within range of OT's Ebon buff)
    2. Alkosh
    3. Chudan

Setup for when the group wants me to be immortal:
    1. PD
    2. Eternal Yokeda
    3. Chudan

Setup I run when I can because I actually like the sets:
    1. PD
    2. Akaviri Dragonguard
    3. Chudan

=== Nord stam DK (recently "resurrected" as a werewolf DD with tank off-spec) ===

Setup for when the tank dodging is not a detriment to the group:
    1. Tava
    2. Hist Bark
    3. Chudan

Look at those 5p bonuses, they are made for each other, so I just really wanted to try this setup ever since JC was introduced, and in Wolfhunter I could actually afford to make those Hist Bark rings. It also makes up for the lack of regen I have compared to the Argonian, and satisfies my OCD by making up for the gap between physical and spell resistances on DKs.

Setup for when dodging is a detriment to the group (like Xal-Nur in vRoM):
    1. Warrior-Poet
    2. PD
    3. Chudan

I'm over spell resist cap with this, but with 0 points in heavy armor focus because this is mainly a DD, it's a necessary evil to get physical resist high enough. I'm sure I could come up with a prettier solution, but this is just gear I had lying in the bank, and I don't want to go farm for the sake of being prepared to tank just a few fights on a char that I don't expect to tank on a lot in the first place.

    === Khajiit Stamblade ===

    1. Tava
    2. Hunt Leader
    3. Lord Warden

    - Need the extra resists from Lord Warden to get to cap, and Chudan would be a waste anyways because Nightblades get major resist buffs basically for free when they use other skills.
    - Tava is making up for the lack of Ulti regen I have because of dropping Low Slash (considering I get a reliable source of minor maim from shades, the skill simply isn't worth keeping on the bars).
    - Hunt Leader has a 5p bonus that just screams "I'm a NB tank set", so I just had to have it to be able to permablock on the NB while still being able to use my ulti on War Horn instead of the 1hs skill.

=== High Elf Magplar (my first char that is currently rarely doing anything more than crafting) ===

    1. Vampire Cloak
    2. Bloodthorn's Touch
    3. Thurvokun/Shadowrend

    - Vampire Cloak helps me stay alive with my 33k HP that I have because I have to focus heavily on magicka to have good self-heals, since Templars don't have an HP% based self heal.
    - Bloodthorn's Touch for at least some stam regen while blocking, and all the mag (regen) bonuses don't hurt either.
    - Thurvokun/Shadowrend so that I can drop Low Slash from my rotation, because with it, there is no way I can sustain on this char. Used Chudan before, but since the Wolfhunter update Templars get the most resistances of all classes, so I can reach cap without having a single set bonus giving me resistances, and now I can finally apply Minor Maim with this char without committing suicide.

Thanks for the answer @Carbonised and @jypcy . I've made a couple of dual purpose stam dd (DK and warden) into tanks, but wasn't sure how the pools would work out from a magicka character. But then again, in my recent tanking on the warden, I've had to manage stamina without shard/orb support most of the time anyways. Nice to see that it works for you in that content (which is about what I would be wanting to do anyways).
My DK tank: Ebon, Knight-Errant, and Bloodspawn.
My warden: Ebon, Bahraha's Curse, and 1 piece Pirate skeleton atm. (I need to get another Ebon chest to be able to use a full monster set or 2 1 piece).

Oh, yeah, a great set, if only we weren't forced to use Alkosh on anything beyond 4 man content.

I tank on several characters, but only have one dedicated tank. I go for character concept above all else, so sets reflect that where I can.

    Shock Treatment
My first character, and his gear has changed very little. Not a main tank, but surprised me in handling some vet dungeons. As an archetypal mage, he uses julianos. When enemies hit him, he explodes in lightning (thunderbugs). With staves counting as two pieces, he can now run Ilambris too.

    Red Mountain’s Wrath
Also not a main tank, I think I’ve finally found what I like for him. He has run innate axiom from the start, as well as grothdar. For his heavy armor set, I tried out vampire for a bit (because he is one) and then went to shalk for a while. Didn’t really like those, so I got embershield for him, which I’ve loved.

    Whirling Dervish
I haven’t played her much, and she’s my third off tank. She’s using stormfist, hunding’s rage, and... I think veiled heritance? Of my off tanks, she’s the least set up for it, but I am thinking about switching her to a second main tank. Or I’ll just delete her, but she looks so cool I can’t quite do it... haha.

    The Artificer
My main tank, who I leveled as a tank. When learning, I ran whitestrake for a long time. For most of his career he has used livewire and plague doctor. His monster set will always be engine guardian, and I doubt he will ever drop livewire either. Plague is a bad fit for his theme, so I have been testing some other sets lately. Warrior poet is my current test. I was thinking imperium, but found the radius way too small.

Changed up to a magblade DD now.

    What made you change?

Got bored, fancied turning to magicka.
I was a Stamblade DD before that.

4 man, I use ebon and torugs. On the rare occasion i do trials, ebon/alkosh or dragon/alkosh. Torugs is really only viable if you are the only one with a crusher enchant because they can override each other, so if you have multiple tanks in a trial, it shouldnt be used. I have messed with many different monster sets, but always find myself going to chokethorn/shadowrend for the double mag recovery.

There's so many options out there so I ask what are you using?

    Depends on the content.

Alkosh/Ebon/Torugs - in raid, basically whatever Lead tells me to.

Or I go full on selfish with Plague Dr and Leeching. Like in DLC HMs, especially if we cannot get a healer, I wear whatever I can keep me alive, and if I have to be selfish, I am OK with that.

Or situationally; different things like Resilient Yokeda, Akaviri DG, or even green pact. But these are really situational for me.

Depends also on Dungeon/Mode/Healer or not/DPS skill.

    It really varies for me.

    Great thread!

    Trials

    DK

In the limited tanking I did in trials last year, I conformed (reluctantly) to the standard DK Ebon + Plague Doctor setup. I forget which monster pieces I used; probably resistance ones. Coming back to the game recently, everything I've read in the forums indicates that Ebon is still mandatory and that Alkosh has replaced Plague Doctor. By the time I get back into trials, perhaps it will have changed again.

    Dungeons

Toons start with a theme/concept/appearance, differentiated for variety in gameplay. Gear and skill bars are then optimized within those parameters. I think of this as METATA (most efficient thematically appropriate tactics available).

    DK "Mechagodzilla"
    Heavily-armored fire-breathing Argonian
Still Ebon + Plague. Monster set is Grothdarr or Infernal Guardian. Sword, shield, flame "spear" (staff).

    Sorc "Shock Tank"
Viking (err, Nord) warrior princess, storm-born to lightning powers
Thunderbug + Shacklebreaker + Illambris. Sword, shield, lightning "spear."

    Warden "Ice Tank" aka "Icebreaker"
Nord "King-Beyond-The-Wall" with ice in his veins and maybe a little White Walker blood too
Plague (cuz health > Ysgramor, for now) + Shacklebreaker + Iceheart. Axe, shield, frost "spear."

    NB "Witch King"
    Undead Imperial captain/sorcerer
War Maiden + Torugs (would use Gloom if the proc lasted longer) + Pirate Skeleton (I'll also carry Lord Warden and Thurvokun when I complete those sets). Mace, shield, ice "spear."

    Templar "Sunspear"
    Imperial paladin, holier than thou
Soulshine + Dragonguard + Blood Spawn. Sword, shield, restoration "spear."

    For WBs and LOLs

    Sorc "Thunderhammer"
Reckless Nord brawler, with a touch of storm magic, in medium armor.
Fortified Brass + Sword Singer + Stormfist (or Selene's). 2H hammer main bar, 1H hammer & shield back bar. Alkosh, someday, as it would fit right in.

    Sorc "Scary Lady"
Dunmer mystic with ugly pets and big magic shields
Necropotence + Spinners + Shadowrend. Dual ice staves.

And a few works in progress, but [wall of text/off.]

My pledge tanks are just dps toons with tank sets to get quick dungeon finder queue times.

On my warden: ebon, livewire, lord warden sets using a lightening staff on the back bar.

On my nightblade: leeching, bahraha's curse, scourge harvest helm sets.

On my sorc: spectre's eye, thunderbug, engine guardian sets.
