The Russian spam is getting ridiculous, its not like the game supports, Finish letters, Chinese Letters and other types of letters either

It does support "Finnish letters", BTW.
Together with Slovakian letters, Portuguese letters, Cuban letters, or Filipino letters.

Really needs ZOS to fix the font/font kerning on this
but a better font is Better Cyrillic Fonts

or to remove any chat using Cyrillic
    Cyrillic Chat Filter

& to remove any repeated chat
    Harvens Simple Chat Filter
as other things can get irritating too

Pretty sure Finnland uses the Latin Alphabet with a few mutations. Same thing as German and I know that is supported as I use it every day.

Cue a dozen people coming here with accusations about racism, people on NA servers imposing their political correctness on the EU server despite never having set foot there, as well as people correcting your post and demanding you do a written explanation on the term "spam".

At least that's what happened in the other thread on the topic, before it got shot down into Oblivion.

Unfortunately the Hide Cyrillic addon is outdated, and many people get UI errors from it. Mute List addon gives you unlimited ignores, so that's at least a band-aid on the problem.

However, seeing that the EU server has had a massive influx of Russians, who aren't shy about spamming the zone chat full of cyrillic, it would be nice with an integrated setting to automatically filter out any cyrillic in chat. Shouldn't be too hard to implement anyway.

I made a thread regarding the issue. No official comments regarding it, though. I think, we need three things here, first, a new Cyrillic font, second, some kind of a filter for the chat, and third, the /ru zone chat.

The real problem is that the way Cyrillic fonts looks today it is more like someone is shouting in All-Caps.

I tried to use Better Cyrillic Fonts, but that made a mess out of my other add on which now changed language to Cyrillic looking fonts (localisation of add ons I wasn't aware of would happen when changing language). Had to reset default language in UserSettings.txt and delete those savevariables to get things back to English.

I dont mind Cyrillic in chat, but it indeed looks awful as it is right now. I guess a russian channel (as well as any other language specific channel) would solve the problem... if someone could explain to them how to use it, that is.

its nothin to do with raisim, since I dont mind russian people, dont mind any people, I just dont wanna see a conversation in region in English, then have 10 lines of cyrillic in between, so its hard to keep up with the conversation.

its like when the game started where we had to have an addon on for gold spammers in chat, before ESO fixed that

Honestly it's not about the font, the font is the least of the trouble. The possessive and entitled attitude from players in a specific, geographical region is more the issue. Europe has, what, dozens and dozens of minority languages? I speak 5 of them myself, but very rarely if ever do you see people in zone chat holding prolongued conversations in their native tongues. Yet somehow, people who use cyrillic in zone chat (which for the most part is Russians and other related nationalities) seem to think it's perfectly alright to fill the entire zone chat in their native language, which is not understandable for the majority of the other players in the zone.
Hence the wish for a setting to simply ignore and filter out this spam, so it doesn't clutter up the chat window and push out more important messages.

I suppose adding a Russian zone chat would help a lot.

And fixing the bloody double-sized Cyryllic font.

This. And as I said, recently I've started the thread about these issues. I think, it would be better to continue costructive discussion there.

    I agree. I don't mind people talking in Russian (or any other language) but the font does look terrible. Imagine if the Latin alphabet C A M E O U T L I K E T H I S A L L T H E T I M E.

But also if someone only wants to see English chat they could use /enzone and turn the others off, instead of trying to turn the all-language /zone into a second English-only channel.

People do know there are zone chats for specific languages yes ? Eg /enzone fo English or /dezone for german etc. Ofc i agree that making the cyrilic font not look like giant monstrous letters would also help

Fix the font and all the problems would go away. It'll turn into another language that people can't understand because they're English and can then focus on other things

It's not that rare, I've seen this from Hungarian and Turkish players too - but only in other games, since ESO isn't popular either in Turkey or in Hungary. I agree that the main problem is the font, which makes the Russian text much more irritating thanit should be. I also use now Better Cyrillic Font, and it makes the Russian text tolerable...

This! And later they complain on forums that no one likes them and start talking about racism while ironically in chats it's exactly them who spread it.
