As with everything, there has to be an interest first. Even if you are convinced somehow by another person, if there is not a bit of curiosity about what a different style is like, you won't go there.

Stamplar hits harder and has more utility and it is more likely to be accepted in a trials group. The odds of being coerced to heal varies between 0 and 100% depending on how easy you are to convince. If you want to dps just dps and don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. If you don’t like what they’re telling you to do, leave the group.
To summarize, Stamplar has more dps and is meta for essentially all high end trials groups outside of vas and vcr. Magplar is less likely to be in a trials group because of lower dps and they take up a melee dps spot that could be used by a Stamblade or Stamplar.
As long as you’re going for completions and not score runs, any dps build will work
