The Bad Bard Skill Line

My friends and I are jokingly theory crafting the Bad Bard Skill Line. This is a skill line for bards that are actually terrible. The ultimate involves singing 'Red Diamond' really off key. It's the most powerful taunt in the game, also rendering the rest of your team stealth (because who is paying attention to them anymore). The downside is that it also applies a powerful debuff to your toon. You'll probably die instantly. Successful use of this ultimate is a real skill check.

Suggest more skills please.

For PVP: Play a theme song for your alliance that replaces all combat sounds for enemy players within hearing range and making players long for the days when Cyrodiil just randomly lost all sounds during battles. An enemy bard can countersong.

Obviously there could be one that functions as a mass fear.

Another idea is to have one that ends opponents' food and drink buffs, because it makes them vomit.

I loved the terrible bard in Morrowind. RIP

But I'd love a bard class. Using sound waves to inflict damage and inflict status ailments or buffs or debuffs using song notes. But for a joke skill line badly playing songs to apply terrible debuffs on your group members would be great. They should implement something like this for the jesters festival.

It works on non-hostile fauna, even. Swarmed by squirrels.

The 'Oh Solo Mio' Achievement:

Use your bard ultimate to aggro at least 20 NPC's in a major trading city resulting in the death of at least one player character who jumps in to 'whoop yo behind'.

Delusions of grandeur. Passive that keeps him unaware of how terrible he really is. Makes him immune/resistant to x debuff.


And also... Powerslide as a stam move.

It's so potent that it even fears your allies, albeit for a shorter time, because they're used to it. Or it fears enemies, and applies a -40% movement debuf to your team. Gotta understand : their ears are ringing.

Could actually be a pretty cool idea. The Jesters festival is bollocks and in no way rewarding or fun. If you've played ESO for over a year then the Jesters festival isn't new its dry and boring, but something like a quirky skill line could really make it interesting. Actives that are more focused on buffs and debuffs rather than any outright damage with quirky cast animations (i.e cracking out the lute and playing it really badly as a debuff).

Anyway, really like this idea, hopefully the devs see it and try and make something players can be impressed by.

That would make a nice PVP troll skill. Animation cancel it and let the music play while you wreck noobs.

just thinking - spindlclutch, those animation scenes when the spider queen whatsit screams and your whole party screams and holds their hands up to their head - how about an PBAOE channel that does that for say, 3 seconds - affects all targets, hostile and friendly, in range

basically a short aoe stun - you can dodge out of the zone (kinda like a root), but not specifically break-free able or blockable

these are BAD bard skills, right?

in that case, you could also have Broken String - another channel (like dizzying swing) where you play a cord and a half, then there's a tremendous TWANG, your string breaks - it does a large burst damage with bonus pen to a target, and sets the player off-balance for the same duration as the channel

ooh...and Plagiarism - the bard plays a tune, and steal a buff from the nearest enemy target, but also sets a debuff status called "exposed", that if they get hit by another bard's plagiarism while it's active, does a huge hit.

I'm kinda liking this theme...
