@amstelx well you still can bomb some randoms with eof c:
More than that there will be no need to regear if you want to play with raid.

Im using a destro/resto heavy armor setup with transmutation and rattlecage right now, swapping between troll king and skoria depending on what im doing. The free slot that rattlecage enables is really nice since magblades tend to have crowded bars, plus i find the damage to be enough when bursts are timed right.

Having said that though, light armor magblades with cloak seems nice again this patch since sloads doesnt suppress cloak anymore. I might go back to my max magicka setup soon, which was necro + amber plasm.
previously @HaruKamui but I outgrew my weeb phase (probably)

I should have a 10.2k harness magicka shield tool tip is this enough? I have never played with shields but the damage you can put out sounds extremely fun, so can anybody give me some ideas on what to expect from a LA build that uses shields as a defense?
I only play light and medium builds. Played a Shackle / Necro warden in the past. 10K in CP is where Harness starts to feel really good, but I long switched to Dampen. If you get used to the Harness sustain, which is great, you get caught out while duelling stamblades and the like. I now prefer to get my sustain elsewhere.

There are some things that will stretch the value of your shields, such as slotting Temporal Guard for the 8% Minor Protection, wearing Wizard's Riposte, or wearing Pirate Skeleton. All of those reduce damage before it hits the shield, increasing it's effectiveness. Basically, if you feel too squishy, you can switch to those sets, although I prefer Troll King over Pirate for it's consistency (activated by Forward Momentum).

Pushing magicka is viable, at least in CP (which is all I really play), either with something like Necropotence / Shackle / Domi / 1x Other or, if you want to go all out, Ancient Grace + 2x Willpower instead of Shackle. In IC, you'd wear Imperial Physique. It is a bit unforgiving compared to mixing in a defensive set from above, e.g. if you don't get your sustain and shield discipline right, you're toast, but if you do you're golden. As a warden I combined it with Living Trellis and sometimes Healing Ward. No Troll King needed there. As NB, I imagine you won't have problems finding sources of healing either. Once you become disciplined with shields, you can get away with low health. I am often barely over 20K, preferring Ghastly Eye Bowl for the sustain and additional magicka over other options, such as Witchmother's Potent Brew.

As a light armor magblade your primary defense can be Cloak and Shade, with shields used at the times you want to stay in the fight, or are forced to do so. For example, when you are duelling on a flag, a cloaking playstyle will turn the flag for the other guy, which you may want to avoid. The only real problem with shields is that there is a hard counter, specifically a stamblade using Mark and Shield Breaker on the bow bar. Very hard to play against. Shield Breaker + an Infused Oblivion glyph is IMO quite broken and cannot mathematically be outhealed using any reasonable build I could come up with (I looked at combat logs). Your only choice is to counter-attack, or LoS, if you can.

2h/resto, 5 necro + 5 amberplasm is a great small scale/solo setup. I use Soul Tether + Resto ult. Wear them down with resto and burst with 2h. Running Piercing Mark is just hilarious vs NB's and very useful vs DK's, Wardens, and stamsorcs too. Only non NB skills are Healing Ward, Resto ult, and Forward Momentum. Have fun running circles around everyone while packing more than enough damage and excellent durability. Being marked is a problem only in 1vX but it's a problem you can solve.

Monster set adds a lot of flexibility; Maw of the Infernal is surprisingly helpful in 1vX and a lot of fun. Great troll potential and it's always funny when the little guy kills someone for you (he's smaller than regular daedroths)

I’ve been running a no cloak light armor mag blade in cp campaigns. Necro/spinners/Domi/1 other max mag. 2 swift on jewelery. I love it.

@Moglijuana indeed. It is sad that pvp'ers cannot get together without ripping into each other. The trophy for the worst trash-talkers belongs to pc pvp'ers though. Mostly NA by the looks of things.
