How to deal with in-game bullying/harassment?

Hi, New Player Here.

I Was Just Wondering If There Are Any Tools In Place To Prevent People Who

May Just Be Having A Bad Day From Targeting Me With Verbal Abuse Or In-Game Griefing?

For Example, When I Was At An Outfit Station Somebody Threw Mud At Me, Forcing Me To Retreat.

Another Time, Someone In Zone Chat Was Getting Very Political And Very Angry Saying Very Nasty Things.

Additionally, Some Crass Individuals Were Saying The Foulest Things About Queen Ayrenn Who Lives In Vulkhel Guard.

I Truly Value My Immersive Gameplay And I Don't Like Having To See People Arguing When I'm Doing A Solo First-Person Delve!

Thank You To Anyone Who Can Enlighten Me. Remember, I'm Looking For Ways To Block Out Negative Players, Perhaps Phase Them Out Of My Gameplay?

The mudball one should have been fixed, unless I remembered the patch notes wrong. That said, if you want to report them for it, you can try. I highly doubt anything more than a slap on the wrist will happen (or should). You can also relocate to a different station.

Verbal abuse or harassment can be safely ignored, either by manually ignoring that a person has said those things or by right clicking their name and placing them on ignore.

If you don't want to see zone chat you can manually edit the chat box to allow one tab with, and one tab without zone chat. You can also entirely disable the chat box at your leisure.

Edit: to work the chat box options, right click on the word "chat" at the top kept of the box or click the + symbol top create a new one. Here, you can edit what channels they functionally see and even name them.

Yeah, that. I dare say I miss some important stuff but it so often seems to be mostly random incoherent yelling, as well as just being distracting.

Mudballing is just a bit sad: "loooook at meeeeee!" kind of thing, and it's probably best to see it that way. And from personal experience, some of my "bad interactions" have simply been my rather newbie misinterpretation of events...

If you are on PC, right click on chat tab and deselect all channels you see there, good luck.

You can right click player names and choose Ignore Player or Report Player.

If you chose to report players, check the TOS for the language that isn't allowed. I screenshot what they said and attach it in a reply to the email ZOS sends me.

If you ignore players, you wont see what they type in zone or to you anymore.

Mudballs aren't supposed to work while you are using the stations anymore.

If you never feed them they never bother you again.

Ironically last time I offeeed similar advice the person started PMing me here in the forums arguing with me about it. Seems (s)he was really the problem. It was hilarious.

We have this magical shield called the "List of Ignoring". While it doesn't stop Mudballs (you need a more physical shield or a sense of humor for that), it does completely block Ppoliticians and adolescent males talking about Queen Ayrenn

That Sounds Great! I Am Going To Fiddle Around With My Controls. It Is Great To Hear That The Mud Attacks Have Been Patched Out, It Only Happened Once But I Remember It. At The Time, The Wayrest Outfit Station Was The Only One I Found So When I Retreated I Had Nowhere To Go.

Most Of My In-Game Interactions Have Been Positive Of Course, But I Was Insulted By A Level 3 Naked Nord Man Who Told Me My Mohawk Was Stupid, Totally Unprovoked Before Running Off To Harass Other People. I Ended Up Deleting That New Character Shortly After Because He Made Me Feel Bad And Ugly But I Didn't Know I Could Report People At The Time?

I'm Going To Go Take A Break From The Forums For Now And Explore My Options Now That I Know There's Light At The End Of The Tunnel. It's Great That I Can Seperate Chats Or Turn Them Off Completely! I'd probability just cry if someone threw a mud ball at me when I was getting dressed. Dressing up is the core concept of the end game and how people can still get away with this kind of harassment and bullying in this day and age of MMOs is beyond my comprehension.

I applaud you for your courage in the face of this nastiness! Keep that chin up, and I hope your game experience is improved and these intolerant people are removed from our game experience!

Challenge said harasser to a duel and if they decline go on the aggressive and harass them. If they accept the duel and beat you just blame it on lag, pot not going off, or sprint bug.

Tbh that's probably what they want - the attention. My time is too valuable to pander to their attention-seeking whims, I just report them.

It's a video game. There will be trolls. Use the report button if it's truly egregious. If you dont like zone chat topics, change your settings. However, everyone else should not be forced to change their behaviors because you dont like seeing an argument in chat.

OMG, you can tell, its Summer But its quite refreshing to be fair, i play a lot PVP right now, all my Characters are AD and i have to say, the stuff going on in Chat is crazy, to say the least. Also, a lot of negtivity on the Forums, this made me actual love out loud.

I hope you find a solution soon though, I find closing my eyes really helps when things I don't like are happening around me. Just don't do it while walking.

I literally have all the basic crafting station and outfit station as well as transmute station at my primary residence. I just tell people to go there and I tell people there are only 2 rules (only one I really care for tbh) 1 be mindful and respectful of others and of them to you and you to them 2 don't turn off the lights (people like the lights on as it can look majestic how I make it look >.> )

Just some "constructive feedback" for OP... If you start typing like a normal person, maybe people won't make fun of you and harass you. In ALL of your posts, you center your text and capitalize the first letter of EVERY word. It may look "cool" to you, but really makes you posts hard to read and understand.

As far as the zone chat thing, I actually have a second chat tab in game JUST for zone chat. You can right-click the chat tab in game to bring up an "options" menu. This is where you configure which "channels" you want to show up in that tab. Just uncheck "zone" chat (there may be mutliple). Then create a new tab (same process) and turn EVERYTHING off except zone chat. By doing this, you can have one tab for regular chat that won't get flooded with zone chat BS, and one for zone chat for when you're doing world boss quests since that's were everyone asks.
