Well, question in title. This one:

Please, don't say "buy normal one". They are not cheap, and I need it for only one specific task and won't play with it after (this one isn't even mine).

    Should auto-detect.

If you go into the gameplay options for the game there's a little option called gamepad which you can switch on and of and you can enable it from there.

If it's not working with autodetect check out ds4 as tool. It's a great Programm and working quite well, at least for me :)

I'm not that stupid ) That doesn't work, so it's not enough.

Then it's likely the gamepad itself not being detected by the computer.

If you have steam, make sure to go into big picture mode and fiddle with gamepad settings because those have been known to disable gamepad functionality. Steam's weird.

Aside from that, I dont know.

For a long time I used MotionInJoy which is a horrible one, but I was able to block its ads and links so it didn't affect me until the thing eventually died. After that I used PS4Windows which was a little better, but still had a lot of issues. Without using third party software, I finally gave in and linked ESO with Steam when it was on sale, so now when the game launches it also launches big picture mode which auto detects my controller and have better customization options.

Not steam. Gamepad is detected by computer.

No Steam as in it isn't installed, or it isn't bought through steam? Because that last bit dont matter.

But other then that I have no idea. It might legitimately be that you need a gamepad that actually has microsofts drivers, and for that you'd need to get a new one. But I have absolutely no idea at this point.

    I use this : https://github.com/nefarius/ScpToolkit/releases

I'm using a ps3 controller though which it's designed for. If you try it with that it can work (i used a non-sony pad for months) but it can have bugs at times. If you decide to use it and do have problems : uninstall, then choose force install for the ps3 pad when reinstalling.

There's several different parts of the program but all you need to open each time is this : SCP-Toolkit Stand-alone Server.

That gets the pad working, and if you have any lights on the top like a sony pad they'll turn on when you start that part of the program up. It might seem like a right mess around but once it works it's simple : you just open up the stand-alone server part before playing then start your game up.

Yeah, it works. Still not sure (tried a lot of), but I believe that was thing @RobZha wrote.
I didn't even try to do it fully playable (needed only movement and camera rotation) but I'm sure it's also possible.

was having the same issue with my DS4, and i have figured it out..

using steam; add the game application itself to the steam launcher.. BE SURE NOT TO ADD THE ESO LAUNCHER.

i found the path for ESO by the old tried and true: launch game with ESO launcher > minimize game to tray > open task manager > right click on ESO > "open file location."

the key is clicking Browse when adding, because steam will automatically show the ESO launcher in lieu of the actual game application.

    hope this helps.
    *cheers*
