Here is a list of problems that won't be fixed by adding cosmetics.
Premades with non premade groups.
Groups starting with imbalanced numbers where many of the games are weighted. For example flags.
Obvious balance issues extended by noCP (defiles, bleeds, sloads etc)
Extending on that, scoring issues biased on certain specs. Stack tonks/heals for chaos or sorcs for deathmatch.
Scoring issues based on numbers, i.e. weighted flag flips so its pointless to defend, and instead just flip in a circle with most numbers. KOTH is better for that.
And a multitude of queue problems to this day:
- Endless queues, have to leave and re-enter
- "Somebody declined"
- Not getting into matches the same time as people who queued similar times. Similar MMR and end up in same match anyway just later.
- Just taking too long in general based on MMR.
There needs to be a change to the MMR system, and a hard separation of premades from soloQ. Currently at high MMR you end up with more premades than before. This level of incompetance is why the play rates are low, not because of lack of fancy cosmetics. I have played BGs since launch and it is by far my favorite kind of play. (No horse sim, defined system unlike dueling, varied unlike PvE)
Maybe try an actual KOTH mode with a single central or single moving flag whereit gives points per person in it, so that incentivises and killing the enemies.
And whilst you are at it, go back to imperial city. Make it free and keep the dungeons paid so that people actually play it and its not classed as outdated dead content. Because its probably the best atmosphere and small scale PvP in this game and its sad to see it sparse bar events.
