Fast Harvesting

I prefer actually playing to running around forever to harvest things, but need raw materials to do daily crafting writs on my various toons. So, I want to maximize my efficiency and am looking at ideas.

So far, I'm thinking:

- Mounted between longer nodes (already doing)
- Speed jewelry (researching that now)
- Rapids

What else can I do to boast my speed when harvesting and minimizing the time I actually have to spend harvesting?

The best way to minimize your time harvesting is to not do it. Not trying to be snarky or facetious, but just saying it honestly.

If you enjoy dungeons more, just get a few friends, go knock out a vet DLC dungeon, sell the motif, and buy the mats you need. Or whatever activity it is you prefer. Make gold that way, buy mats. Problem solved :)

If you're gonna harvest anyway, you've pretty much got the basics covered. Speed will obviously speed you up.

    To go a bit further:

    - If you're on PC, try harvest helping addons like HarvestMap
    - Being a Nightblade (or if you somehow can afford it, using potions) for invisibility can help you navigate the world without getting into fights with mobs constantly.
    - If you've leveled Dark Brotherhood, the Shadow Rider passive works wonders for avoiding aggro too.
    - Harvest at off-peak hours, so you'll have less competition, and you'll find more nodes.

EDIT:: And as @Danksta pointed out above, those CP passives Plentiful Harvest and Master Gatherer are absolute must-haves! If you stop for chests on your harvesting runs, Treasure Hunter is good to have too. ::EDIT

My advice is you can make a special alt - orc runner - just for harvesting nodes. That orc don't use mount or rapids because he doesn't need this, his speed is nearly the same as the mount's (just on the running cap), so you just run and pick everything around. No better solution :).

Here you can see how to create such build and what you gain.

If you need best farming areas - Bal Foyen or any from starting low lvl islands are probably best in the amount vs fast node respawn. Also too small to use a mount.

THanks for the suggestions. Ugh! I really don't want to level up another alt but I didn't realize that orcs ran so fast!

The speed from Orc passive is nice, for sure. I love mine. But you don't need to be an Orc to hit the speed cap. Any race can do it rather easily now.

If you wanna know your speed, Minimap By Fyrakin can display it for you. Set the option to show your speed as a %, and once you hit 200% you're capped out and can move no faster on foot. Swift jewelry + Sprinting + Rapids is enough to get you there on any race, iirc.

Maybe give that a quick test before rolling a whole new toon for an activity you dislike. ;p
