Tried to move game files to ssd but Steam re-downloads it

Hi,

I tried copy/pasting the whole <Zenimax Online> folder from my (D:) hdd to my new ssd the (E:) drive but Steam doesn't detect the existing game files and tries to install it again. Also when I try to launch it via the bethesda.net_launcher.exe it tries to verifiy the game but doesn't do anything past 0%.
Any help? also all the other posts mention eso.exe in the (D:)\Zenimax Online\The Elder Scrolls Online\game\client map but there's nothing there.

I really hope I don't have to download it again.

@Dunoryan you also have to tell steam where to install and look for your game files, I don't know that in my head but if you search in steam settings or on the internet you should find answer how to do it.

You'll need to tell steam through settings to add a new steam library location.

My ssd whas already set as steam library. But for some reason it didn't recognize the existing files. So I had to download everything again unfortunately.

You could also make a symbolic link folder. you will need elevated command prompt to use the commands(mklink /J "C:\Link To Folder" "C:\Users\Name\Original Folder") (for more info google complete-guide-to-symbolic-links-symlinks-on-windows-or-linux) to do so, then copy the files to a new linked folder on drive of your choosing. This is also useful with you want relocate your user settings/addons to an ssd when your documents folder thatis not be on the ssd i.e users\"username"\Documents\Elder Scrolls Online

If it is downloaded thru steam the best way to make sure it works is to initiate the move thru steam rather than copy it and try to redirect. Steam gets stupid about moved folders and trying to work from them
