I see a new "not collected" pet in my collections (or as it is not collected not in my collections) - point being - is this "live" and what do you need to do to collect it?

This is a reward for the Murkmire DLC intro quests. They were on PTS already, but I guess they didn't go live with today's patch, since they are not mentioned in the patch notes.
I haven't tried the quests on PTS yet, but I think you have to complete a specific amount of dailys from this intro quest to get the pet.

Considering that it takes 120! dailies to finish this achievement, and considering that this was supposed to be a Murkmire prologue questline, I can't fathom why they didn't put it in game already.

For a "prologue" questline, the time when it actually hits the servers, it will already be time for the Murkmire DLC, unless they have postponed it for some reason.

Prologue questlines usually go in a few weeks before the DLC drops.

Given that Murkmire likely won't be out until mid to late October, they have a little while yet.

This is different, the former prologues, for CWC and Summerset, have been one-off quests that you could finish in an hour or so, and get a memento in the end.

As we saw on the PTS, with Murkmire they are introducing prologue dailies, that you can do like the other dailies, with a chance for parts of that pet runebox. And to finish the prologue achievement and get a title, it requires 120 dailies completed, even if you can do more than 1 per day.
So that's still only a couple of months, if one wishes to finish the prologue dailies before the actual DLC.

I gave this PTS cycle a miss, that seems a little bit insane!

This was on the PTS as part of the Murkmire prologue:
A complete set of Daily Quests with their own Quest Rewards and Achievements, including the chance to get a brand new Murkmire pet.

Each Daily Quest can be completed once each day.

You can earn Daily Rewards and Achievement progress for each completion.

The luminescent Swamp Jelly Pet can be obtained by acquiring the seven parts of its Runebox and combining them.

These Runebox Fragments can be obtained by completing daily quests for the Cyrodilic Collections company in Shadowfen, unlocked after completing the quest "The Cursed Skull".

The Jelly's 7 parts came out of the daily quest reward boxes. You just needed one of each part to assemble the pet. It was not linked to getting an achievement or completing a fixed number of daily quests, just RNG. This could change before it goes live.

Yes. This isn't just some 1 hour prologue quest, it's a bunch of dailies that you have to do just like any other daily fetch quests. They give some cheap rewards and Shadowfen zone sets, as well as a chance for a part of the pet runebox. But in order to "complete" the dailies and get the title and achievement, it requires 120 dailies done, which is why it would have been nice to get going with this update, instead of starting right before the actual DLC release.

That being the case, it should definitely have been released today. 120 dailies? You having a laugh, ZOS? :/

Looks like I remembered it wrong and it's actually 150 dailies, which makes it even worse. And yes, it's the ones in the link, new fetch quest dailies. Has nothing to do with Cyrodiil, as in the pvp zone.

    Nope, 150.

Don't really care about the title either "Murkmire Prepper", kind of dorky and unnecessary. But I do like finishing achievements, just to get it off the list, and get the pet in the meantime, which I think is a great new pet.
So yeah, kind of wondering when they aim to release these prologue quests after all.
