If you're still doing this after the disappointment of doing it once, this problem is completely on you.
Stop rushing and pay attention if you can't be bothered to lock your items.

Maybe not insurance but the ability to undo. I deconned a purple mother's sorrow neck by mistake recently lol

Pay up front for a mistake I may or may not make in the game in the future? Nope. I pay for my mistakes when I make them. Insurance in real life has practical applications. It could be life or death. If I make a mistake and some of my pixels go away, that's on me. If it's a bug, I'll contact ZOS and see what they can do about it. I have no intention of paying to make sure I don't accidentally decon things. I'd likely have to contact CS to sort it out and that's what people do right now anyway.

Only buy insurance if the loss of insured items (house, car, life) would be catastrophic.

People buy insurance on their iPods. I don't get it. Wouldn't buy it on in-game items for the same reasons.

lol, decon "insurance". It's called locking your items. Also, I NEVER decon stuff right before I log out for the night. That's when I'm most tired and ready for bed...Good chance to screw something up.

I run multiple gear sets on my characters. It's imperative that I lock items all the time. Also, since I do all my deconning from my bank, I ALWAYS look at the item and if it's something I may use/sell on guild stores, I lock it in the decon window.

This, and no one in their right mind would buy such insurance unless they are just a complete fool.

How many times since we have had equipment lock have you deconned a prized pieced? If you answered more than one piece you really need to take a look at how you manage important items.
