To antisocialites like me, the idea of being able to compete in endgame PvE without having to endure the politics and people-wrangling of 12-player groups can be very appealing. Not to mention the lag and fps drops that come with shoving 12 players into a single instance... Even for people who enjoy being a part of large groups, the fact that there are literally only 9 instances in the game which qualify for leaderboard/weekly status can very quickly lead to boredom. Here are some ideas that have been rattling around in my head for a long time which would radically increase the amount of competitive endgame content available in ESO:
1) Leaderboards for all 4-player dungeons, including a dungeon weekly with gold jewellery drops for those who make the cut.
2) Leaderboards for TG heists with class rankings as well as weeklies for bounty and fencing totals. Competitive non-combat endgame!
3) 2-player arenas with proper mechanics requiring co-ordination between two people like vMoL Twins and vHoF 1st boss.
1 and 2 don't even require the introduction of new content, just a few new leaderboards to inspire progression, optimization and competition. This would inspire a whole plethora of new builds for new purposes, forge new teams, friendships and guilds, and all-in-all inject new lifeblood into a huge amount of content.
Feel free to expand upon any of these ideas and introduce ideas of your own. Please keep the trolling to a minimum. Peace.
