hello!! i'm a fairly new member to the game, having joined in may, and i really need some help with my dps.
i play a CP 311 khajiit, a stamina-based warden. i wear a mixture of hunding's rage and night mother armor (5 medium, 2 heavy), all purple quality and enchanted with divines (mundus stone is lover). i haven't been able to afford good jewelry yet, which is high on my to-do list. my first bar is dual wield with a hunding's rage dagger and axe, and my other bar is a hunding's rage bow.
here is a picture of my stats:
3c15837e178abfedfacd8a0d93e8e74b.png
i use bull netch, green blossom, and endless hail. i weave light attacks in with abilities, primarily rending slashes, cutting dive, and poison injection. animation cancelling is something i am working on but i am incredibly bad at it. i use wild guardian as an ult.

all of this, and i only manage to pull around 8k-11k dps. i sometimes hit 15k if i'm lucky. i really love this game and after learning i'm nowhere near as good as i should be has been really frustrating, so much to the point where i stopped playing for a month or so. i really want to try to get up to at least 30k dps. i appreciate any and all help or advice you have to offer. thank you!

Just a couple observations, hope they help!
-Your maximum stamina seems really low for where you’re at. Do you have all of your armor enchanted?
-Your weapon damage also seems fairly low. What quality is your main hand weapon and your bow? These should be gold: it’s expensive, but weapons see the biggest stat increase going from purple to gold.
-Make sure you have a rotation where you’re able to keep all of your abilities active as much as possible. Without seeing a rotation it’s hard to judge, but a poorly-excited rotation (or no rotation at all) is often the biggest hindrance to big dps numbers. For example, I have some Aussie friends whose dps might be 5k lower than my American friends using the exact same build, just because the connection down under is worse and so it’s harder for them to get a clean rotation. I’ve seen people suggest finding a rotation video on YouTube or twitch or something and reducing the playback speed so you can observe which abilities the person casts in which order.
-It’s been a while since I’ve parsed with stamden, but I think the sub assault skill is still really good. It’s tricky to work into a rotation, but something to consider.
-especially if you start using sub assault, find a different set to use instead of night mother’s (they provide the same debuff). I think strength of the automaton is pretty decent for stamden (other sets are probably better but either require dlcs or are really expensive).

Ultimately I see your weapon damage as low which is the main cause of your low dps. Youre hitting like a wet noodle.

Im CP330 new player as well; started before summerset. For the record i'm garbage at rotations(attention deficiency disorder holds me back) and because of this I can totally understand your frustrations. The game itself can simply be frustrating for new gamers as well due to all the factors that play in.

For someone like me it is impossible to pay attention to 10 buttons on a timer. I just can't. My rotation is constantly sloppy however I do try, you can too!! I often forget self buffs, might miss an ability, etc.

I pull close to 30k dps on an aoe trash pull and can do 15-22k single target. Enough for vet dungeons.

*fighters guild weapon damage passive due to rearming traps
    *hundings
    *spriggans
    *agility/defilers jewelry (optional)
    *All divines
*health enchants to reach 18k (with food)
*monster set of choice(no monster set; optional 2/3pc jewelry)
    *warrior/lover
*basic stam potion (provides stam regen to buffer your rotation/help practice)
    *Proper CP allocation
    *Action Duration Reminder addon

With the above youre looking at with food

    18k hp
    30k stam
    1300 stam regen
    43% crit
2800 WAP (with lover, 3.2k ish with warrior)
    8% pen. (higher with lover)

I highly suggest going with warrior when just starting out as DPS. Here's why. Weapon damage acts as a modifier. Boosting your weapon damage directly modifies your 'physical damage' abilities. For example the warrior stone will directly increase the burst damage of the selene's monster set due to it causing physical damage. it's easy to test as all you have to do is swap from front to back bar with a bow on it. Right now selene's is 15k burst for me.

Penetration is pointless if youre trying to penetrate with a wet noodle.

all basic abilities used. rending slashes, cutting dive(im warden use your filler), rearmingtrap, sub. assasalt. back bar is endless hail, caltrops, and poison injection.

Once you have this setup it comes down you pushing buttons. The combat system sucks and it's not as responsive as it should be so you'll also have to learn the quirks; for example sub. assault is based upon the direction youre facing but you must standing still for at least a second otherwise it'll change directions. A miss directed sub. assssult is depressing. Trying to fire off endless hail>caltrtops>poison injection is a pain in my ass because 1/3 abilities will not fire. Speaking of this you can't push your abilities slow. you must develop a fast pace and aggressive behavior as this game rewards that style more. (see vMA).

I often picture low DPS watching animations and getting caught up in the pace of it all. You must understand that this game has a fast 1 second GCD (global cooldown) so that alone should tell you how fast this combat is. Compare to say FF14 online which has a longer GCD which determines the pacing of combat. Games like world of warcraft have abilities off the GCD timer which makes for smoother gameplay; wish ESO would take note. With that said you literally need to fire an ability every second or you will see the gradual drop in dps(damage per second for a reason).

Also don't beat yourself up in group content. Everything is situational and there are mechanics in the game that will break your rotations. DPS is a benchmark yes however practice becoming a good player. Block, roll dodge, bashes, focus fire healers, don't stand in stupid. Dead player=zero dps

i also can't suggest golding your weapons; that alone will not push you. All of my gear currently is purple with one spriggan blue and two green jewelry.

perfectly good example was tempest island vet recently. Actually had a 4:36 last boss fight. Dps was garbage through the whole group but because gameplay was decent we finished without deaths.

Part of learning is understanding and following through with it. Hope it helps some, still going the process myself.

@jypcy i actually just realized that NONE of my armor is enchanted lol! that's definitely part of my problem lol, i'm going to get to that right away. they all have divine traits though.
my weapons are all purple. the axe and bow have sharpened traits and the dagger is precise. i will work on getting them up to gold, though.
i also use sub assault, but definitely not as often as i should. i'll try using it more often

@Xerge lol i definitely feel, i also have ADD. i used to just spam random buttons when i realized that wasn't getting me anywhere. i am a very unorganized person but i'm going to at least try to develop a solid rotation. can i ask if you do animation canceling? it's a concept incredibly confusing to me but a lot of people in my guild have suggested it.

thank you both for your input, I REALLY appreciate it!! i'm broke in game but i will definitely try to start fixing up my armor and skill lines. i used to be magicka-based, and i only recently switched to stam based because magicka was getting me under 5k.

@Tybaxel My best advice is to fully understand your flow of combat and stick with it.

With your group just as the tank charges in you should be on your backbar firing caltrops and endless hail, finishing with an injection>barswap. You can literally fire off caltrops and endless hail back-to-back.

    the rest is history.

As far as animation canceling goes try practicing with endless hail. I found it was the easiest ability to cancel and practice with. I noticed not all abilities cancel well however endless hail does. Go ahead and fire your block ability right as you endless hail. You'll notice the aoe drop on the ground but your character just drops their arms. Roll dodge will cancel an animation as well as will barswaping. Light attack animation will cancel others too? I believe. I also noticed sometimes the game just naturally cancels as well. Part of the system.

Not to be confused with light attack weaving.

First thing to know about eso is that it works off butten release, not press; u can test this by holding down an ability button and it wont fire off till after u release.

    Animation cancelling in eso:
First, understand the priority sýstem; dodge/block/bar swap > ability > light/heavy attack.

What this means for ur pve dps:
-make sure u light attack first, and then hit the ability, start slow at first, and then speed up, once u get comfertable with it. Everytime u see urself having issues, slow down and make sure ur pressing in order and allowing the light attack to connect
    - bar swap cancel ur ability animation when swapping to either bar, this will take a bit of practice. (Light attack - ability - bar swap)

Hmm with sharpened, lover and night mothers I think you might be over penetrating (and certainly will be in dungeons). I have to look up the NPC armor cap.

You can switch to warrior for more weapon damage or switch from sharpened to infused (left hand poison and right hand weapon damage).

The 5 pc bonus of Nightmothers Gaze is completely useless so it would be a good idea to change sets. The Major Fracture does not stack! Subterranean assault gives you major fracture and in a dungeon a tank will be using Pierce Armor which also gives major fracture.

    Spriggans is better nightmothers.

Hey, here is a build you can work toward (in terms of gear) :https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/362978/noss-mirakuru-stamina-warden-summerset-ready/p1

Make sure you use Dubious Camoran Throne since you are a khajit. Give me some background so i can recommend gear. Do you have eso+? Do you own summerset/morrowind? For now practice this rotation:

Fyi block cancelling skills doesnt really affect your dps...just weave light attacks in before each skill and only animation cancelyl you really need is barswap...

@Narvuntien thank you for the advice! I will def switch to spriggans, once i can get hold of it!
@hedna123b14_ESO I have ESO+ and all of the dlc. thank you for that video btw! it really helps to see visuals.
  • Swen_von_Walhallion
well what i can recomend you is combination of Hunding rage + Briarheart set. Hunding as arrmor Briarheart jewelery + weapons. When you axe/daggr weapon combo use exe as amin hand ( best trait is nirn for main hand) and infused dagger in ofhand ( infused with weapon dmg enchant is mst have) after wolfhunter DLC use infuse bow with poisn enchant ( dots from backabar as poisn arow endles hail or caltrops will proc enchant from backbar now) on main hand you can use what enchant you want excpet weapon dmg and poisn dmg (due to shared enchant cooldown it only gimp your dps wen will use this same as on infused weapons) proly stamina absorb will be best choice. BTW grat page for find builds is still this
Adraria Argentum Draco - imperial Stamplar
Bevdyen Tus Ntxhuav - Orc Stamplar
    Celestun Ira Dei- Imperial Tankplar
    Halldis Rautt Höfuð- Nord Tankplar
    Misawa Yoshike - Breton Healplar
    Lae'ozhael - Dunmer Magplar

use exe as amin hand ( best trait is nirn for main hand) and infused dagger in ofhand ( infused with weapon dmg enchant is mst have

doesn't matter which weapon is mainhand or offhand. Having an axe equipped in either hand causes both melee swings to have a chance of proccing the dot.

@Tybaxel I don't play a warden end game so can't offer much help dps wise. However I've quickly thrown a build together: http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Special:EsoBuildEditor?id=81115

    Basically wear:
    • Head: Kra'gh (Purple | Heavy | Divines | Stam) <- Vet fungal grotto 1, possibly the easiest dungeon)
    • Shoulder: Kra'gh (Purple, Light, Divines | Stam)
    • Body: Hundings (Purple | Medium | Divines | Stam (1x Health on Chest))
    • Jewellery: Spriggans (Blue/Purple | Robust | Weapon Damage)
    • FB: Spriggans Axe (Gold | Nirnhoned | Absorb Stamina), Spriggans Dagger (Purple | Infused | Weapon Damage)
    • BB: Spriggans Bow (Gold | Infused | Poison)

Skills (probably not ideal, I don't play warden end game):
FB: Sub Assault | Dive | Rending Slashes | Netch | Trap || Bear
BB: Poison Inj | Caltrops | Endless Hail | Green Lotus | (Bird of prey/Ice Fortress) || Bear
Run BOP for more damage and mobility, Ice Fortress for more tankyness and survivability.

    Rota would be:
    (Pre buff, Netch > Lotus > Bird/Fortress > Trap)
Endless Hail > la > Caltrops > la > Poison Inj > Swap
    -- Repeat this part --
    la > Assault > la > Rend >( la > Dive x2 )> la > Assault >( la > Dive x2 )> la > Trap > Swap
    la > Hail > la > Caltrops > la > Poison Inj > Swap
    la > Assault > la > Rend >(la > Dive x2 )> la > Assault > la > Trap > la > Netch > Swap
    la > Lotus > la > (Bird/Fortress) > la > Hail > la > Caltrops > la > Poison Inj > Swap
    -- Repeat this part --

EDIT: Food is Dubious Camoran Throne, potions for buffs are Essence of Weapon Power.

EDIT2: I've gone with 330 CP as you'll have to grind the Bangkoria dolmens for Spriggans jewellery, which should get you quite a few CP ;)
