Waiting 6 secs for healing ward is a long time in BG's.

    - burst heals is situational and positional. Pet controls are slightly wonky.
    - much better suited with a mag heavy team then a Stam one.
    - a much better tank than a healer imo with passives and skill set that has been modified over the updates.

One cannot answer such a broad question. Healing in what context?

    - Solo PvE, Group PvE, Trials?
    - Solo PvP or group PvP?
    - Dedicated Healer or Self healing?

Just curious about thoughts and concerns as your Class rep.

Sorc healing has a few useful skills: Empowered Ward (for Minor Intellect), Twilight Matriarch (for burst heal), and Absorption Field (AoE stun and HoT).

Bound Aegis would also be useful for a little more defense and Max Magicka, but it is difficult to fit on healer bars. This problem is mostly caused by needing to double bar the Twilight and slot ward to keep it alive (basically 3 slots used just to keep a burst heal available). The same can be said for Boundless Storm, it would be nice to use for defense, but fitting it on the skill bar is nearly impossible, and it adds nothing useful for healing (unlike Channeled Focus for example that helps sustain while providing Major Ward and Resolve).

The Twilight suffers from all the typical pet issues. Sorc healers are problematic in vAS because it generates more Storm of the Heavens. In vSO HM it will die to every World Shaper. Even in easier content like Ruins of Mazzatun, the Twilight will die to every Totem on the final boss. A burst heal that is unreliable, and not usable in all content, is not a very useful skill.

Sorc healers can provide synergies for Alkosh and Moondancer by using liquid lightning, but if there is a Sorc DPS in the group this doesn’t really add any value. The player that procs the conduit also doesn’t get much benefit compared to something like Templar’s shards. The only real reason to do this is if you are trying to run all Nightblade DPS (which can be very effective).

Sorcerers also bring the Minor Prophecy buff, but it relies on casting a Dark Magic ability frequently. None of these abilities are helpful for healing, so it’s usually better to let a DPS handle this one with Crystal Frags.

For the most part, Sorc healers will be relying heavily on Restoration staff skills. Which means they will be objectively less useful than other classes that have better class skills for healing.

All of that being said, I do enjoy Sorc healing dungeons. Typically I just slot Ele Drain and the Twilight Matriarch, and keep mostly DPS skills on my bar. Sorcerer excels as an off-healer.

I like playing it, there are times where my groups dps is just insane with that concussion uptime.

Sustain can be a little hard but as a healer I am supposed to heavy attack a lot, I can struggle a bit if my group is rushing and not giving me time to regen.

I agree the pet is wonky and there are all these mechanics that insta kill my pet and mechanics and adds that target my pet over anything else and then I lose my burst heal.. then I have to stand still to resummon it.

If i die and I am rezzed I have to resummon the pet which is a huge deal because if I have been dead my group is probably in need of a burst heal.

The other classes seem to better be-able to provide vital group buffs (or enemy debuffs) and that really isn't anything in the sorc kit other than lots of damage and the atronach which I like in dungeons but warhorn is too important elsewhere.... edit: and the mag regen and spell crit buffs which makes them better with mages.
