39k DPS...

I hit 400cp this week and thought I might be ready for trials. A 950cp player let me practice on his dummy and I achieved 16k dps. After upgrading my weapon to gold, practicing a rotation about a dozen times with trial and error I got 23k DPS solo buffed on a dummy. The 950cp player can hit 39k DPS solo buffed keeping his Elemntal Drain up.

I threw that out my 23k DPS stat in Craglorn hoping to get picked up and was told that wasn't enough for vet trials by two players. Sooo... I thought I'd hit up the forum for some 3rd opinions!

I'm an Altmer, pet sorc, Vampire stage 2, Maw, Mother's Sorrow and Necropotence with Lover Mundus (Penetration), Precise Lightning and Inferno Staff, all Infused armor, Destructive Clench, Daedric Pray, Elemental Blockade, Lightning Flood, Crystal Frag proc, Elemental Drain (solo buffed, might replace with Mage's Fury or the Soul gem skill for an additional DoT), Charged Storm Atronach (for mobs), and Spell power/crit potions max uptime. All attributes and enchants Magicka (44k total), all Jewelry with Spell Damage enchants, Frost and Poison enchants on weapons.

Maybe it's my animation cancelling that just needs work? Maybe I need to be at +500cp? I dont run out of magicka during the 3mil dummy practice but I get close.

Help and advice appreciated!

23k is more than enough for the craglorn trials.

It's enough for some of the others, too, but you'll have to find a less judgmental group/guild to run with.

Thanks Deadly. Is 23k ok for Vet Crag Trials? I hear 30k is the standard for Vet DLC....

23k can clear crag vet trials but most guilds prefer about 25k and up. 30-35k+ is required for dlc trials and vet hm trials. All of your armor should be divines. The only pieces that can be infused is Chest, Legs, and Helm. The rest should always be divines. At 400cp my dps was pretty similar. Just perfect your rotation, take more time to learn the ins and out of your build, and more dps will come slowly but surely.

Also try to farm a vMA inferno or lightning staff. Having a vMA staff on backbar helps dps a good chunk.

I don't run a PvE guild/raid, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but...

At this point, vet crag trials are a smash with most pug groups. I cleared them all with a few friends+pugs while pulling maaaabye 20k DPS.

In terms of vet DLCs, it'll depend on your group. I got my Dro'Mathra skin as a favor from some friends while only pulling maybe 17k DPS (didn't have a PvE build that patch). I was carried there, for sure, but still--we got it done. And if I wanted to improve my #s, I'm sure that crew would have helped me...

Basically, find a good group that can help you improve AND cover your weakness, rather than try to position yourself to have to carry others (i.e. pug groups).

You could do some vet trials with 15k but would actually have to occur some mechanics.

Well, at my 670 CP it's not a big difference from you, mate
My mag sorc with heavy attack build can hit 26-28k DPS, my magNB ~ same
Yes, this is enough for trials.
    But still

I even has an opinion, that this is because packets loss. Even if you see damage numbers on your screen, some of them becomes missed and has no effect on the server side, so your time to kill becomes bigger = lower your DPS.

But sometimes, this is all about numbers, like in the 'nerf mag DK' thread, where several guys posted their parses with 20k+ crits of light attacks.
Ok, it was Siroria, that allowed them to jump close to 4k spell damage.
But they already started with 3k+ of spell power.
Where do they get it from? Me in my gold gear (Julianos + Scathing mage) has their starting numbers only when Scathing procs + spell power buffed ><
