Capture the Relic and Chaosball points are broken

The way points are earned in flag games almost discourages group play. There should be points earned when you "escort" a flag carrier and a small tick when you interrupt an enemy from grabbing a flag (something like the defensive/offensive execute in land grab).

    Completely agree. I was once called “trash” in a 2nd place CTR game where we lost by one capture. I was last on my teams leaderboard with like 500 points even though I was on defense the whole time and stopped our relic from being taken 4/5 times. And I also told my team that I would be on defense so they could focus on captures, AND informed them when our relic was being targeted.

    But we inevitably lost because the third team was so crap at defending their relic they gave 4 captures to the 1st place team while I only dropped one defense on my teams relic.

    So even though I played my part well on the team, the scoreboard said otherwise. Yes, defenders / escorts in flag games should get more points, it’s a reasonable request.

    I guess it's supposed to get better. Something in the PTS notes about healing medals counting for more.

    As for the the thread, yes we should get some points for escorting the flag carrier as they return it back.

    A medal for bashing players who try to pick up flags is a grey area for me though - I suppose as long as it's not really major.

    ZOS really needs to take a look at scoring in BG's in other games. You don't see a player on the losing team with more points than the players on a winning team. Sure you keep tabs of KB's, damage done, healing, deaths, etc. But players receive the same score.

    Chaos Ball just promotes one player grabbing the ball. You get NOTHING for standing there casting Light's Champion (which saves almost anyone), endless healing springs, earth gore, purges, etc. Can't tell you how much Sloads and Purifying Lights I've purged off people. Think that doesn't "assist"? I've seen players actually stand back and let team mates die so they can grab the ball. My team has a better chance of winning if I stand back and heal a real tank. If there is one on the team I do this so we win or at least get 2nd because I KNOW this means I won't be back and can que for my Land Grabs.

    I was running relics in Capture and got all of the points while a great defense got almost nothing. To the point, I felt like a point hog. Doesn't matter if we won and I see the rest of the team get almost nothing. (except for the fact we win and players don't have to return for daily). I was in a DM where this newer dps player was constantly hitting the targeted player but because they couldn't out damage or get the KB, were stressing about it .. said they would never come back because they felt useless. I told them point their execute at someone that was almost dead and steal the KB (basically the way I get most of my kills in DM). You should get "assist" for helping, not stealing.

    The award points of the game need to be the same. An "assist" should include any damage, heal, snare, purge, etc.

    I que for randoms just to get the daily and then just que land grabs, where I easily make the top 10 every week. If I get in a Death Match that is just a farm, I just leave and take the penalty.

    ZOS: Look at games like WOW and Rift. They have way more experience in BG's that you do. Arathi Basin and Warsong Gultch were classics that carried WOW for years. You need to do a complete overhaul on the scoring.

    All this said, I enjoy the Land Grabs and will keep queuing for those.

    For relics there also needs to be some sort of bonus for defending relics, cause while some teams do defend which is good it basically seems more design for a sheather to grab alone or to grabb while a team mate helps unfocus the relic grabber, and the only one earning the heavy points is the person that grab.

    Just glad a lot don't use mage light when defending relics, my current char is able to sheath and grab, then run back to base, Cowards gear is handy for relic running on a imperial that massive health pool and stem pool basically with the right team means I'm unkillable more less while running on top of my set choices on my current char.

    But on the other hand because their is no point earned for guarding or helping the runner grab the relic most just do their own thing to earn those sweet points or follow me around while getting detecting has they try to follow while I am sheathed then complain at me cause I didn't unsheath to come help them, but waited for a chance to grab the relic.

    But yeah chaosball needs some sort of defender points also.

    It's almost as if focusing on the objective rather than getting kills makes you more valuable. I'd rather have a whole team running around trying to get relics then one dude sitting at our relic doing nothing until the inevitable full man team come to melt him in a second. Even more so for chaos ball, there's no relic to defend other than your teammate and even then you should be clamoring to pick up the ball when he dies rather than saying "oh well he'll pick it back up when he comes back" or "some one else will pick it up". I agree with the healing aspect though.
