Armor and spell resistance – how much is enough for non CP?

For stamplar. How important is + or - 8 k resistances? Will a player notice big difference?

Context: currently I use dw/2h and 2heavy/5medium (Bloodspawn, Fortified brass, Bone pirate) and currently its 23k spell and 20k phys resistance. With bs proc ~30k/26k. Nonetheless I die like a fly to more than 1 enemy or against good enemy (because I lack the skill). But I feel I lack the punch too - even on situations where I have the upper hand. Should I trade Fortified for Ravager (I could swap rings and some pieces and stay 2h/5m). In that case my resistances goes down to 15/12k. Will I feel naked in the field or its ok? I dont use shuffle (I cleanse myself – and why would anyone spend hundreds of thousands on outfits only to see himself black all the time).

Fow now I have 2100 sta regen and 2400 weapon dmg – aaand I have a feeling I have to increase the later, but not sure how (too many times I went into win situation against, lets say, sorc, putting craze on the target, potl, javelin, DB, spam jabs and STILL he stays alive with ~10% hp, keeps jumping and claps his hands with the staff (lol not sure what skill he uses) and this goes forever, my jabs cant finish him..until he pops tripot again and Im dead from sloads or zaan (yea, I got hit yesterday with 10k zaans several times with all my brasses on and 1500 crit res).

What would you do in my case? Stay like this or go offensive?
P.S. Im starting to notice the situations where I should I go in and take the kill, I know my burst, I know how to survive and healup, but still cant finish a proper enemy. I play templar for the last month, purely PVP in BG, got to leitenant yesterday. Not sure where I stand on the food chain :D

Every 660 = 1% (AFAIK), but with noCP you likely wont come across players that run at high pen anyway. Personal preference, how much can you have without sacrificing damage and survivability.

Get yourself some Seventh Legion or Warrior Fury. Both Heavy Armor sets with damage procs. You will stay near 30k resistances.

You mean stay 2h/5m and swap fortified for seventh instead of ravager?

You didn't mention what your crit resist was, resistance is all well and good but if someone is running high CHD they'll still hit like a truck when they crit.

LoS'ing is far more effective than high resistance and learning opponents weakness and your own strengths is the key to getting the kill.

Don't forget you'd get +5280 resistances from Rune Focus if you decide to run it, also one morph gives minor protection and vitality.

I always opt for 1 damage set with 1 sustain/defensive set. No point being unkillable if you can't kill anything.

No I mean drop 5 medium. You have 2H for Forward Momentum, your a Stamplar so you have no mobility anyway. 7th is 500 Weapon Damage instead of 630 But pretty much StamDen, Stamplar, and StamDK are all best in Heavy. 7th and Fury are your two Heavy Armor weapon damage options

What about 20% stam regen, 12% weap damage and 20% less roll cost (I vigor and roll so often). Heavy armor gives ~3000 more resistances, also health regen and other minors buffs, which Im not sure i must take instead of those serious bonuses from medium..For DK or warden I would go heavy for sure, but stamplar issues with stamina gives me headache even now..

    Well, to answer your questions;

A - Will you feel 8k resistance difference?

YES. That is about 15% more damage taken. 8k is the difference between heavy armor and light armor, more or less.

B - What is the right amount of resistances?

IMPOSSIBLE to answer. Depends on your playstyle, skill level, class etc.

But based on your description, your real problem is that you lack damage. You need to pump that wep damage up to 3-4k buffed.

    Different playstyles.

Heavy is intended to let you take a few hits here or there while having extra healing coming in to help keep you on the offensive. But medium is intended for you to run around forcing fights to be 1v1 while gaining Line of Sight to avoid damage and using dodge roll to evade attacks.

Stam Regen, Constitution will actually do a lot for you here. Just work in more HA for the rest
Weapon Damage, your getting that fromn 7th or Fury 500/750 and Glyphs. Its pretty easy to still get to 4k+ Weapon damage.
Dodge roll, way to F-ing exspensive to be useful. 7 medium Impen Dodge Roll cost 2908. 5 Heavy 2 medium all Impen Dodge Roll cost 3716. 22929(35%) vs 27233(41%) (includes Bloodspawn proc)

Don't PvP much on my Templar though, find the Warden a lot more fun, so take it for what you will. Though I dont run the Netch, he makes you two easy to track, stops you from mounting up and I get Major Brutality from Forward Momentum anyway. Personally have 1.8k recovery which is high for a StamDen

    Nah man.

    Go bloodspawn, pariah and ravager!

You'll be under cap until 70ish% health than hit resist cap and be about 6-7k over cap at like 20% health. Not much is penetrating that. I'm sitting at 5k self buffed with ravager proced. 40ish crit.

VERY tanky, good sustain, good magic sustain for purges. Heavy attack before every jab, or every skill if you want. Speed pots.

Learn to dodge sparingly. LOS until ulti is up, soften ur target, then dawnbreaker right at 50% health. Boom when PoTL hits, quick last jab and their done. Or atleast pooping their pants
