Question on Cruel Flurry effectiveness.

So after a few maelstrom runs I've gotten my cruel flurry and thunderous volley for my toom. My question is if I browse the forums I see that the bow is a gift from heaven and the DW weapons are either bad or unimpressive at best? But in in my fights using the buff on Poison Injection, Venomous Claws & Twin Slashes seems to perform really well and buffs my dps atleast as much as the bow does on my admittedly sloppy rotations.
Am I missing Something? Am I just outright wrong or is it more of a "there are better options" situation?

Thankyou in advance for any thought out explanations =)

Add Rearming Trap to the list and - yes, it is probably a bug, and bound to be fixed, but there you have it - Noxious Breath is also buffed by Cruel Flurry despite not being a single-target DoT.

This set was completely forgotten until Summerset because it was plagued by a number of ugly bugs that rendered it unusable (in addition to two nerfs). Now, a lot of bugs are fixed, but some remain; plus the rotation itself isn't without quirks. So, the remaining bugs are:

    - Flurry and morphs can't proc off-hand enchantment (shouldn't be a big problem since you're light attack weaving anyway).
    - Flurry's last 300% hit isn't buffed by champion points.
    - Cruel Flurry buff only buffs first rearm of Rearming Trap, and second rearm will consume the buff if it's available (if, for instance, you activate flurry but trap snaps before the skill you want to be buffed, so it's a quirk, I imagine).

Of other issues... It makes rotation longer. If your rotation already uses spammables, you can replace them with Flurry, but DKs have a ton of DoTs (Claw, Rearming, Slashes, Noxious Breath, Hail, Caltrops, Poison Injection, Flames of Oblivion...), so may not be the case. Occupying front bar means you're giving up on monster set, so it's a DPS loss on its own. Flurry is a channel; I don't share opinion that it's hard to weave with, but you probably can't cancel it with bar swap (I tried, if you swap before last hit, you don't get Cruel Flurry proc).

All in all, I'm still trying to make best use of the pair I got, the set simply feels too interesting to use to pass it by. @YoshinJaa mentioned in other thread that he tested those post-Summerset and got decent results on stamina DK (45k DPS on a dummy), I hope he'll some time share his rotation and build.

The 45k was done on a 3m, I do most of my tests on 6m but I didn't have anyone around to provide orbs to support sustain, which you will have an issue with a cruel flurry rotation. I'll have to get a game clip (on Xbox) of the rotation later, but I was using the following gear:

    2x vMA Daggers (Nirnhoned-Poison/Infused-Berserker)
    Maelstrom Bow (Nirnhoned)
    2x Selene
    5x Relequen
    3x Agility (1x Bloodthirsty, 2x Robust)
using Dubious (about 16.8k HP without Ebon)

Front: Venomous Claw, Rearming Trap, Rapid Strikes, Rending Slashes, Noxious Breath, Flawlwess Dawnbreaker
Back: Endless Hail, Poison Injection, Razor Caltrops, Rearming Trap/Channeled Acceleration, Molten Armaments/FLEX, Standard

*If you want to use Rearming instead of Channeled Acceleration which is fine, try to make sure you do it from the front bar and cast it at a point where setting it won't consume the Cruel Flurry buff.

You only want to empower the following abilities: Venomous Claw, Poison Injection, Rending Slashes. In that order.

The rotation can be a bit dynamic especially because of what I was saying about casting Rearming but this is a rough rotation:

Prebuff: Molten Armaments, take a weapon potion and cool it down to about 35s remaining (helps with sustain)
Back: Rearming > Endless Hail > LA (light attack) > Poison Injection > LA > Razor Caltrops > Standard of Might OR bar swap
Front: Noxious Breath > LA > Flurry > LA > Venomous > LA > Flurry > LA > Rending > LA > Flurry (somewhere in between do a Rearming not lining it up to consume Cruel Flurry or you can bar swap cast Rearming to cancel the animation) > bar swap
Back: Endless Hail > LA > Poison Injection > LA > Caltrops > bar swap or molten armaments bar swap cancel
