Unbelievable, I'm on my main, Mages Guild 10, and Eyevea was replaced back to that spanish galleon symbol.

What @Ghanima_Atreides said, you can only access eyevea through the portal in the mages guild halls throughout Tamriel.If you see me anywhere. If I recall correctly, Eyevea is indeed one of the islands on the Tamriel map. However, the only way to access Eyevea is via one of three Mages Guild portals. There is one such portal inside the Guild Hall in the "last zone" in which a beginning character would explore for each of the respective Alliances. Namely, in Evermore, Bangkorai (Daggerfall Covenant); in Riften, The Rift (Ebonheart Pact), and in Rawl'kha, Reaper's March (Aldmeri Dominion), respectively.
Eyevea itself has a wayshrine, from which a player's character can travel to any other wayshrine known by that character. But no one can travel to the wayshrine in Eyevea from any other wayshrine.
For what it is worth, Eyevea cannot be "eliminated" from Tamriel without also eliminating two Set crafting workshops. One is for the Eyes of Mara set, the other for Shalidor's Curse. There is no Homestead available there. The Mages Guildhall has an enormous banquet room, but there's no kitchen anywhere. There is only one Cooking Fire, and no Inn. If you can find a bed on the island of Eyevea, then please tell me where it is.
