Horrible planning AGAIN

I must say that it feels terribly wrong to see the server down during the ona and sadly only event to get double ap.
Is it really that hard to plan a little better so things don't interveen with eachother. Like the title says horrible planning.

    It would be wrong to have an event for almost two weeks, which incidentally will be overlapped by another event, without some form of scheduled maintenance. ZoS has been advertising the downtime since at least this weekend on the yellow banner, so I'm not sure you can really call this bad planning. Aside from that, they take down the servers once a week, mostly, for scheduled maintenance.

    You know that "scheduled" is sort of the opposite of "bad planning", don't you ?

    This is regular weekly maintenance... No matter if some event is up or no, it still will happen.

    This is a Data Center Maintenance and out of ZoS's control I think.
    FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
    FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
    FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
    FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

    Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

    So what you're saying is the na and eu data centres are both being taken offline at once never mind that it would make far more sense to have us data centre go down in non us primetime and eu in non eu primetime.

    Otoh this is a company that wont even provide a eta for the downtime like literally every other mmo has, so you may indeed be correct.

    It was last week, when only Europen servers were taken offline because it was in Germany.
    Today's maintenance is for all servers, including North American.

    They maybe doing unison updates to all servers. I'm not complaining. I'd rather see the servers be taken down for maintenance regularily rather than once in a blue moon.

    lol every other mmo pretty much? but we can start with wow,eq1/2,tera,neverwinter, rift eve and so on. In fact a better question is which don't.

    Note im referring to mmorpgs only not mmofps mmorts or other variations of mmo. Originally those didnt give estiamtes as to how long it would take but that was over 15 years ago now.

    It is absolutely not the regular weekly maintenance.

    Although, yes - it is fair to expect maint once a week.

    Eve Online has daily downtime for around 20 mins, a hour or so for big content.

    Take tips ZoS.

    Every MMO I've ever played always had a few hours downtime / Week. For a weekly scheduled maintenance. It used to be on Monday now it's moved to Wednesday(Is it just me or do most games have that on Wednesdays?)

    If you would've read the ToS when you signed up, you would also know ZoS is allowed to do so at any times they wish. And tbf, after most maintenances, the game has worked better for a few days(pvp lag mostly though). LEt's see if that's the consequence this time as well.

    no one missed the point, it the same complain people seen 1000 times over.

    "you did maint when i play" mmo go down for maint, and not all with set times that they come back up. More so if its an issue dealing with connectivity.

    Nothing is perfect :D

    ESO has the worst update system I've ever met, but I still like it. During maintanance comes to my mind how perfect job did the ANet's engineer team (GW, GW2) unique in the world. but what does it matter if I want to play this :)

    Maintenance downtime sux, but at least it usually happens during the workday so not missing much.

    I’m guessing the other point about Mayhem event coinciding with Orsinium Anniversary event.

    Midyear Mayhem was held back due server/performance issues on console. This maintenance was probably planned months ago to be between the 2 events.
    You can't plan for unforseen circumstances.
