I've never gotten a specific weapon I was looking for while farming in this game.

The RNG associated with this game is unbelievably frustrating. One of the reason I took a break when i did, and might just do so again.

Every time I have to farm something it’s awful. Whether it’s bsw shoulders, a staff or a ring. Can farm seriously over 100 times and not get. But I’ll get 20 of everything else.

I farmed for the non-Perfected Asylum staff and got it in 2 runs.

The Maelstrom Inferno staff however, I haven't received since Maelstrom came out.

I feel your pain in vma, and I’ve been farming ICP and I’m now well in the hundreds and haven’t got it. And all the runs pretty much had my guildis and none of them got OBE. I hate to complain but this games rng mechanic or w.e is busted.

It is. And in vMA you can't even trade loot if a Stam DPS happens to get the Infused Inferno staff.

I'll be running vMA at least once a day though come the Wrothgar event. Doubled Maelstrom rewards has renewed my hope for receiving the weapon

My dream set is having siroria on both bars with scathing on front (it beat out bsw by a little bit) with Vma inferno on back. And I feel at this rate I will never have my magsorc complete lol. I really hope you get what your looking for.

I'm trying to work towards 5 Srioria, 5 Mechanical front, 2 Ilambris, and vMA back.

It should be some very nice DPS combined with Force Pulse. I was also thinking of using the Perf Asylum staff but I'm just thinking "When are you ever going to be able to get into a group good enough to do that???"

I’ve done lots of dps test and found that I did less dps with asylum. You have to either sacrifice a monster or 5 piece. But that’s just me and my test. Also elemental weapon is a great new spammable now that cost less and does good dmg. I switch between force pulse and ele weapon. But yeah your set up looks cool. Right now I’m wearing 5 BSW front, 5 siroria both and VMA inferno B.B. (that took FOREVER) and zaans monster and I’m getting the best dps then anything else I’ve personally tried. And I want to replace bsw with scathing but the inferno staff is ***#ing just not dropping! lol.

Without the higher crit from Mother's Sorrow or Acuity I feel like you can't really get the desired uptime on Scathing.

Also if you run scathing, you pretty much have to run Force Pulse, because it procs on Direct Damage crits. This gives force pulse a huge advantage over Elemental Weapons when running sets like Scathing and Acuity

EDIT: Also, quick question! How much of a DPS difference do you get when comparing Zaan to Ilambris?

I’ve already tried a 5 piece scathing and it procced quite a bit. I wouldn’t use it if I didn’t think it would be viable. But with 66 percent crit I crit all the time.

So scathing will proc off my LA, force pulse, and crystal frags, and being able to keep my siroria stacks up with a procced scathing with a 66 percent crit chance my spell dmg gets pretty high as well. I pressed both out and I felt like scathing was proccing more then bsw.

Does the Thief Mundus (and the increase in Scathing uptime that comes with it) hold up to the loss in spell damage or penetration that comes with the loss of the Apprentice/Lover?

I’ve tried many different combos. Siroria always stays in it because I can usually keep 20 stacks the entire fight. And BSW gave me more dps then Acuity, MS, asylum set up, etc. Tried different stones as well and using theif seems to be the best. And once again this is just my research. What works for me might not for others, so I’m not saying what I do is the best. And right now my insane bad rng luck is preventing me from a build AGAIN! lol makes me wanna break my controller when I see that the staff didn’t drop for four ppl AGAIN.

I've gotten most everything I've attempted to farm, some things have taken a dozen runs some have taken hundreds. My poor wife spent over 400 keys and still didn't get a divines Kragh shoulder so thank God got transmute. Took me roughly 100 runs to get a VMA Battleaxe.

The trick is not to obsess over it too much and farm with friends makes it much easier.

I have never seen a nage in game, perhaps that is why there is no staff for one.

A few weeks ago I decided I wanted to try scathing / mother's sorrow for my sorc. I quickly realized that this setup would require either mother's sorrow staves or scathing mage staves.

I decided that before I tried my luck farming ICP (which sucks because you need a group to run it with), I would give mother's sorrow a shot.

Didn't want to buy the staves b/c they're expensive, so I went chest hunting. Got an infused inferno staff and defending lightning staff in 4-5 hours over the course of a weekend, along with almost 100k worth of other mother's sorrow and plague doctor pieces haha.

Moral of the story, I would always try and farm for overland / crafted sets over very specific dungeon weapons.

Using theif mundus with scathing and siroria makes up for not using apprentice, and in trials I’m usually at pen cap so don’t need lover.

Lol MS is a great set and I have all those. Just need this damn staff

lol you noobs, havent learned that big brother is always listening?! Rumor has it they have voice sensing technology programs running in all chats, this is coupled with an ever changing and adaptable algorithm associated with your character and "random" drop rates.

Best bet, I always say "f$%k.. Ill probably get (insert what you want here) again, and I don't even want it.." and I get it.

This advice is coming from someone who farmed Maelstrom last year during Wrothgar event trying to get fire staff, and once got double ice staffs as a reward.. and at least 14 sword and boards, 6 resto staffs, 4 dual wield, and 2 bows=)

Remember, big brother is always listening... always...

Every farm I did was with friends unfortunately. I know I’ll get it ONE day but I guess I just needed to vent lol.
