Question about Battlegrounds experience

This question doesn't really have anything to do with Midyear Mayhem exactly, but I have a question about how experience is disbursed, or how much you get.

Went into BG's last night with my new stamblade to level him. Made a full set of training gear for extra experience, had Pelinal's scroll active as well as a 50% XP scroll. My first BG match, my team won. I was second place with ten kills. I got enough experience to level up one level, my experience bar went from levell 33 (XP in the middle of the bar) to level 34, almost to level 35.

The next 4 matches, however, I got very little experience. Even with winning two of these next matches and having a decent amount of kills (i mention kills due to wearing all training armor) I would only get about 8k XP (with all the scrolls active that I mentioned above.) The other matches that I lost, but still made decent amount of kills, I managed to get about 5.5k XP.

I decided to play one more match to help level up, and popped a 150% scroll, thinking this would provide even more XP, but after another BG match, I still hardly received decent XP.

I don't remember getting this little XP after BG matches in the past. Am I mistaken on how much experience you get from matches, or is it different than usual?

Again, this isn't about AP, but XP.

Did you queue for a random? I think you get a massive amount of XP for your first random battleground of the day.

I believe I was queued in for random. My cousin was group leader and queued us in.

There are some problems with xp gains vs xp needed at some levels as well. I leveled 10+ characters and the levels 34 - 36 and 40 - 41 seem to go a hell of a lot slower if you are still in one of the early zones (auridon for exmaple). So no, its not only you...

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place also receive tiered rewards.
