Is it intentional that Midyear Mayhem boxes contain siege weapons from different alliances?

I was just playing some battlegrounds for some easy AP, but when I got opened the box I got a Covenant Forward Camp, which is pretty useless to me as I am playing mainly EP and occasionally AD in pvp. (The character i was on is from EP).
So I was wondering if I am the only one getting the wrong siege equipment from Battlegrounds and if that is intentional or just a bug. For now I will just try to sell it or something.

Last year, the siege equipment matched the faction of the character who opened it. Awkward when I got AD siege weapons in a character I never pvp on.

What's the name of the character this happened on, plus megaserver and platform? You can PM it to me if you'd prefer.

It's a bug that happened to me last year where I got an AD forward camp when all of my characters are EP - I did end up getting not one but two replacement EP camps from CS, though! - and I think I know the root of the problem, which is that the Battlegrounds teams share the same "team" coding as the Alliances.

I don't have the mappings memorized, but let's say Pit Daemons = EP, Storm Lords = DC, Fire Drakes = AD. So if you're on the Pit Daemons team on your AD character and open a reward box while in the battleground, where your "team" corresponds to EP, you'll get EP siege and whatnot. I've also noticed (a while ago, not sure if it's since been fixed) that if you have the Alliance Rider costume and hat, that you'll occasionally end up with the wrong alliance representation in a Battleground depending on what team you're on.

That's the general gist of it, yeah. We're working on getting this fixed for the future, but in the meantime, we'd suggest waiting to open the Boon Box until after you've left a Battleground.

I can confirm that it works perfectly fine (so far) when leaving the battleground first.

    Thanks for the quick response!

Is it possible to entirely disable the box opening in a BG? That way nobody could ever be in this situation.

don't tell me, let me guess, you were intending to fix this as you've got plenty of time and just forgot, right? ;)
