Stamina Vampires?

So... I rather enjoy the medium armor stamina build I made the other night. I am not to far into leveling, and just messing around right now on console. I was going to be a Vampire at some point, but I noticed the Drain is Magicka. Would being a Stamina vampire remove the damage this skill causes? IfI wish to use the blood drain skill I have to be Magicka? I am cool with using Magicka if not for the Staff. I rather hate being locked in with a staff vs weapons lol. I figured a Vampire + Stealthy class would be optimal, but I think I might be wrong. So, my question is do the Vampire skills scale off of Magicka only? Highest stat? I would use thye Ultimate and the Drain if i was to try out Vampire. I ONLY play PvE on this toon, so I am not worries about dodge / block / interrupt to much.

Skills that cost magicka scale with maximum magicka & spell damage. (apart from a couple unique ones that scale with health?), however Ultimates only scale with your highest max stat.

So yes the drain wouldn't do much damage (would still get a sizable heal), however the ultimate would still hit for the same (just wouldn't be amplified by CP).

Personally I never use the vampire skills as there's so many better skills available from class/weapon lines. Fine to actually be a vampire tho, the passives are great on stam and mag characters :)

The vampire passives synergize nicely with stamina builds, but in general the active skills do not.

The ult will scale off of your stam+weapon damage if that's higher, so that can still be somewhat effective (though your CP probably won't push it as high as it'll go on a magicka toon).

You can go vamp if you want. The passives do give you 10% more stam recovery, and the damage mitigation boost at low health is nice. I only use vamp on my mag toons, so I've never tested it on stam, but it seems like it would be more useful to stam players who PvP because of the bonuses to stealth (which is never useful in PvE).

But as far as your ability to level the skill, even though the drain costs magicka, you can still cast it. You just won't be able to cast it as much as a mag toon. It might take a little bit longer, but you could still do it.

But then you have to consider if you want to take that extra fire damage. In PvE, if you have a good healer, it's not so bad. Plus in medium armor you'll have a bit of a damage mitigation advantage over light armor wearing mag vamps.

Ultimately it's up to you, take a look at the passives and see if you think they'll help your build.

EDIT: And to answer your question, the vampire skills do in fact scale off of max magicka and spell damage.

The skill will level if it's it on the bar when you earn XP. You don't have to cast it ever to level it up.

The ultimate will not scale the same just bc it goes off max resource, you have to factor in cp allotment and ask if its really worth it.

For an archer vampire seems to be better than werewolf due to the bonus on sneaking and the stamina regen. As a Bosmer Warden vampire in medium armor with the Dubious Camoran Throne drink, my stam regen is ridiculous and the faster sneak combined with Bosmer racial passive make my character that was designed for pve a pain in pvp too.
So yeah, stamina vampire is great, just think hard if the weakness to fire and reduced health regen is worth it.
This Bosmer was tortured to death. There is nothing left to be done.

Does being Dunmer counter enough of the 25% fire damage?

@Vaerth Yes, from what I know it cancels each other out and since Dunmer are lacking in regen passives, the added bonus from vampirism comes in handy.

Unless you're doing the Thieve's Guild or Dark Brotherhood quest line, then stealth is an absolute must.

True, by PvE I meant more like dungeons and trials, not so much questing.

Ok, here are the advantages of being a vampire:

10% regen (useless unless you stack on regen, so only really helpful for PvP or PvE tanking)
damage reduction while under 50% health(useless as all class kits have pretty powerful self heals, so you'll never be under 50% health for long)
An AoE ultimate that does significantly less damage then class ultimates or Dawnbreaker/destro ulti (so, useless unless you have multiple opponents pummeling on you, so PvP or tank, not as DD)
Increased movement speed in stealth (you don't go in stealth in dungeons and trials, so, again, useless outside of PvP)

    Disadvantages of being a vampire:

Fire vulnerability (most dungeons and trials have fire damage sources)
Pale skin (the consensus is that your character will be fugly)

Is all of this meaningful while you level up ?

No, you can literally play anything while leveling up, I leveled up my magicka nightblade (also, my main and first toon) dual wielding a sword and a dagger (the dagger is literally useless for magicka as Twin Blade and Blunt boosts weapon critical), and I was using magicka abilities. Then I was explained the whole thing better and I still decided to level up 2H, bow and S&B before leveling up destruction staff when I was, I believe, VR13.

Will it be important once you get to endgame and start doing dungeons and trials ?

No, as long as you can manage the fire damage and stay out of the red. My stamina nightblade kahjiit is a stage 4 vamp and I have no issue, even though I have to drop to stage 2 when I'm running vMA and I'm lagging a bit, just to be sure I don't get instagibbed on stage 8.

That said, next update werewolves will be considerably buffed, so it may be a good idea to go for that, unless you have some RP reason to do a vampire, in which case, go for it, you're not losing anything, even though you're not gaining anything either.
