Any beginner tips for Midyear Mayhem?

In playing off and on since launch, I've somehow never been around for this event. Also, outside of exploration and the intro quests, I really don't do much pvp'ing so I'm looking for some help and advice.

Double PVP exp is nice, but really I'd just like to clear the collectibles and achievements.

Do I need to get all of the daily quests and make sure those get cleared?

Do you just group up similar to dohlmen groups?

As an unexperieneced pvp'er, would it be easier to go in as a healer?

Anything else?

Don't play on Vivec, pushing out those who normally do play there. Use one of the lesser-populated (or new event) servers.

This ^^^^ is the "basic core" that everyone should be doing. Don't enter a group without siege, they'll pick up on that very easily and you might be seen as AP leech.

To put it bluntly, One can not function proper in cyrodiil without siege. (I've spent thus far 1.4mil AP on siege in the last 3weeks on VIVEC and by comparison this is very low, but I'm healer and do not siege every time)

PLEASE. We’re just about at the end of our current campaign on Vivec PS4 NA, and the scoreboard has been really close between AD and EP; it would suck so much if the outcome of the campaign changed because regulars are locked out by folks trying out PVP for the first time.

You don't really need to grab all the daily quests. Just grab the one for killing players and the conquest. The others usually tell you to go across the map to complete them.

In my experience, they have nerfed the ap gain from healing so it will not be worth while spamming a healing skill. Just run a dps. Just remember pvp is about bursting and cc's. Your not up against stationary targets. Also try your best to defend a keep. The defence tick will net you a good amount of ap if you help to kill the attackers.

Just type lfg in zone and you should get a group. Just stay on crown and get some siege. Nothing it worse than people standing around while only a small amount of people siege.
(Side note- a single person can man 3-4 siege if you position them correctly. Ballistas work best with this.

I would also recommend not going into vivic as everyone with pvp experience will be in there ready to make easy ap off of this event. Go to one of the new campaigns they are adding.

its really not that hard. Most ppl in pvp honestly suck just go in there and spam your skills. Also you should read the achievments you would know than, that you dont need to do the pvp quest

First time I did these events, the ones in Cyrodiil, not MM, I had no idea about the siege weapons. It's only when I asked people where they got their catapults & things, a guy told me about it. Then I learned you could get materials too.

Don't play the stats. Play your opponent. You're dealing with a live person on the other end. Consider skills you wouldn't normally use, that can interfere with them, rather than just focusing on the damage.

i almost complete master angler while waiting

advice: do all daily's first thing when you log,clear bank,mule toons etc cause you will need space and then enter Cyro without interruptions,log out for getting the buff when expired and log back in to avoid kicked back in the end of queue or wait only a few min if done correctly

Really stretch out your fingers before coming back to the forums to complain about the lag in cyrodiil making the game unplayable preventing you from getting your midyear mayhem achievements.

Then don't get all salty when all the regular PvPers respond by saying, "Oh, NOW the lag is a problem because it affects you!?"

Well you can still play battlegrounds for the boxes. 1 round as the second team and you got one

As much as some people like to see themselves as "hardcore pvp'ers" and everyone else as "carebears", there are plenty of us who participate in all the content of the game, including pvp.

Having an opinion about pvp, and being in the pvp zones, isn't the prerogative of some, select subpopulation of the server.

Maybe if these so-called "hardcore pvp'ers" were a bit more welcoming and forthcoming, then you'd have a larger population to play with and against in all the dead campaigns.

agree,im sure lots of ppl will prefer BG for the shorter queues
im a Cyro regular and i'll stick to Vivec-feel better play in there

Really? Well on two characters recently I went into Vivec as a healer and within four hours was able to reach level six (Caltrops), which was my goal, and promptly left. So if I can go up five levels in four hours just from healing, I wouldn't say there has been a nerf to healing since that's all I was doing.

Also, as far as those who say to "LFG" in chat... I did that multiple times and never once received an invite, others were doing the same with the same results.

LFG depends very heavily on what is going on at the time - there are only a few people willing to lead pug groups, so it all depends on whether they are online at the time, running a group, and there are spaces.

This isn't always the case. In fact, its probably less often the case. Bugs me sometimes that people complain about not getting an invite, especially if they won't run one themselves - so really, just be thankful that these people exist at all, do your best to be nice to them and if you do get an invite, try to do what they expect their group to do, and don't complain about the leadership.

I suspect with the influx of players LFG for the event, pug group spaces will be at a premium.

Just remember, you don't need a group to play in cyrodiil - it just means you can't really be pro-active in terms of attacking other keeps - you can be quick at reacting in defence, but can only really follow the zerg in offence and go where the crossed-swords already are. But once there, there is nothing stopping you from healing/rezzing other people whether grouped or not, or attacking the same enemies as other friendlies.. being healed/rezzed by ungrouped friendlies etc.. In some ways, if you can get over the need for a group, Cyrodiil is pretty much the most welcoming place in the game.
You will (can) never be kicked for poor dps or running off YOLO and dying or being AFK if not in a group - yet still get to play with everyone!

Last year they opened extra servers, shame that ZOS didn't anticipate this year and are going to take the anger from many players who can't join the even because servers will be full.

@ZOS_GinaBruno maybe it is a good idea to get some servers up to anticipate on a massive influx of players???
The EU Sotha Sil server already is full (and 50+ queue) and it is not even close to prime time yet.

If your toon isn't absolutely Min/Maxed for PvP it's just an experience in frustration and annoyance as you continually die in milliseconds, then have to travel for a half hour to get back to wherever you were. Rinse and repeat.

I got u OP you'll be a PvP pro in no time
1. Use the new servers they opened for the event so any server but Shor and Vivec since the PvP regulars play on those servers
2. Stand in red circles
3. Dont siege like ever its a waste of time and AP
4. Spam your favorite healing skill for AP
5. Group up more the merrier

With these simple steps you'll have plenty of AP in no time

The hardest part is getting 50 killing blows - it is significantly easier if you are a Templar or a Sorcerer. This post provides some tips for securing more kills for the achievement. Good Luck!

If healing worked for you, that's great. But what I experienced was 1-3k ap per group fight compared to when I just heal which is rare to get above 1k in the same situation. When I upgraded my warden to be a small scale healer with gripping shards I noticed a large increase to my ap gain as I was tagging people with damage.

Well, they certainly didn't add any No-cp campaigns which I only play.

To keep it on topic, another tip:
Run sload's + Viper, to get easy kills
