Elemental weapon super clunky

Hello,

I just want to point out that the Elemental weapon skill from the psijiic order skill line is really awkward to use with a staff.

Explanation: the description says that it infuses your next light attack used within 2 seconds, which leads to believe that when you PRESS that light attack button, the effect is consumed and the target will take the additional damage on that light attack. Well, it is not really how it works in practice... The effect is consumed when the light attack LANDS, meaning that if you are at max range with a staff (or a bow, i guess) and go Elemental weapon > light attack, well the projectile takes more than 2 seconds to arrive to the target and the effect is not consumed, so no additionnal damage !

You have to fire your light attack before using the skill if you are to far away ! So the projectile is mid air, then you infuse it (wtf really), then it lands and there you go, additional damage... This is super counter-intuitive and i can't believe this is how it is intended to be... I suggest that the effect takes place the moment you fire your LA, not when it lands.

This is a shame really, because it is a fun and powerful skill. Have you guys experienced this ?

its clunky for me but not for this reason its hard to tell when you can fire and when you cant and sometimes it double taps out of nowhere like its stuck

It is poorly executed. They want to encourage light attack weaving in the summerset patch but release a skill that while based around light attacks is clunky and weaves horribly.

Back to the drawing board I say.

Exactly, it fits poorly in a rotation unless you are close to the target... If not, half the time you lose out on the effect and you're just spamming light attacks... Hey at least it refunds the cost of the skill lol

Have you tried using that skill in a rotation without being in melee range ?? You would quickly see the issue for yourself :)

Works great for me. It's replaced crushing shock as my PVE DPS spammable, and hits players like a truck. It's easier to weave, it makes the flow of combat much smoother, and hits your target all at once. Really, I will never go back.

Practice weaving and learn your limitations.

I have not had issue with it and have seen it used by others without issue. My guess is it is merely backwards to what some are accustomed to since it has to come before the LA instead of after.

This only happens if you're at absolute max range and you slightly mistime your weave. You're never going to be standing that far from your target in a dungeon or trial.

In rotation you're always doing LA before Elemental Weapon so this is not an issue. You should practice your weaving more. Everyone else use it just fine.

They really just worded it wrong it seems. Weaving light attacks has always been LA>Skill. Even if your close range and your light attack technically hits before you press ele weapon while weaving you still get the damage boost from the skill.

I hate using it but the dps increase is huge.

    It feels HORRIBLE to use.

They should just increase the duration to 6-10 seconds. Allowing you to hit off a few light attacks between skills without having to constantly refresh it.

It is quite strange though how it works. Fire off a staff light attack from max range, wait until a split second before it lands to use elemental weapon and it will still work...just before it hits the target.

For it to work for me, I fire off the staff LA and then immediately with EW. When EW animation is finished, immediately fire LA then EW in succession. So it's LA/EW <brief pause> LA/EW <brief pause> ad mortem.

For me it works fine weaving it like any other ability but it definitely is a lot more noticeable when you miss your light attack weaves than other spammables just by the nature of the ability not doing damage on its own.

Yeah, I personally don't care for it in PVE because of the distance issues. But the stam morph in PVP on a bow build can be used to devastating effect. To land a ton of damage all at once if you timr it right.
