Spectator mode!?!?

Would it be possible to get this? I would like to spectate my friends or guildmates live while they do a dungeon or trial so I could talk to them with TeamSpeak or Discord while they are doing it. They are not streamers so that's not an option I am looking for.

You could achieve this if one of them would stream it.

This could be a learning curve for new players too. I like it.

I like this idea. It would be helpful for learning mechanics. IMO, it would be better than streaming because you would be on Discord so you could ask questions and L2P better.

They would have to limit the number of "Spectators" But this could be a good idea. Perhaps make the viewing players be in the Ghost effect so they cant do anything but watch.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Yep definitely up for this idea. Be great to teach others mechanics in dungeons.

This would be great for BGs also...open world it would probably be too much for the servers to handle.

I agree that a spectator mode would be great, but just because they aren't "streamers" doesn't mean they don't have the ability to stream it. It's not that hard.

There is already a "spectator" mode. It's called YouTube.

I agree, a spectator mode in BGs or dungeons/trials would be great. could be a learning tool, or just something to do when you're bored. another idea, maybe a spectator mode for when you die? Laying on the ground isn't a ton of fun.

Doesn't that kind of depend on why and what you're doing when you're lying on the ground?... oh wait... you meant in game...

This sounds like it could work, or be a good idea.

Maybe something along the lines of this:

    1. Four man group enters a dungeon.
    2. Each dungeon participant may be allowed to take in one follower (so a max of four spectators)
    3. As you mentioned, each participant will appear as a ghost (they look either how your player looks after reviving with a soul gem, or you look how your player looks during the first main story mission when entering the prophets mind)
    4. Spectators cannot interact with anything in the dungeon, they do not gain experience, obtain rewards, etc...They simply follow the dungeon group around, solely for the purpose of learning the mechanics.

I am against it - let people just play the game and experience what ESO is like. All these suggestions to learn mechanics and such is a too pvp centric point of view or higher level PvE approach. They will get to it eventually, just let them play the game and experience it on their own. Do not force people to circumvent the game just to get to "end game" - ESO does not have a lot of end game, because it is not the focus of the game as such. So to circumvent the actual game - the PvE content - by forcing them into learning the mechanics and just watch people to do dungeons, is really sad. People would miss out on all the story driven content - which is IMO best experienced in a more slow paced way and by own experiences over time.

No, they should not move independently of the person that they are observing, because it becomes far too abuseable.

They should not have a visible form. They are not there, so no body.

At most, they could be able to spin the camera independently from the player, but it would still be attached to their host.

I can still imagine a player and their spectator working as a team in pvp, the spectator watching behind the player. Perhaps it shouldn’t be available in pvp at all...

There is no harm in failing to mechanics 50+ times... it's how we as humans learn and grow and be better then the day before.

It's how I conquered Veteran Maelstrom Arena, yes it was painful over and over but once complete it was beautifully sweet!

Spectator mode in PvP will be abused, so that's a no-go. Reason mentioned above by Cryptical. Free camera mode would just have teams of in-game folks and spectators working together to "spy" on the other team.

PvE Dungeons/Trials? Sure, but as said before, Twitch and YouTube kind of have that covered. Granted, it would be fun to watch guildies run them if they're not streamers.

Sorry, let me clarify... my main social/PvE guild and friends list consists of mostly elderly or older gamers. NO ONE STREAMS, and I just want to be able to watch and learn while enjoying conversation if I am not currently doing the DUNGEON/TRIAL (only) with them at the time. I don't want to watch it later on youtube.

I say yes, that would be awesome.

This would be really useful for Vet DLC dungeon training progression or Trial progression for multiple 'Guildie people' simultaneously.

Not everyone can 'stream' because not everyone has internet fast enough to do that and play the game at the same time.

    ADSL ain't fast.

I would love that but right now the only way is if they stream it and you watch live through the streamer's perspective. I did it recently though and loved it !

Most other MMOs have this, at least after you die. Apparently too difficult for z0$ to implement something around since the 90s.

Steaming does not allow a player to freely move and change camera position on the battlefield. Spectator mode will be able to allow a player to experience the content in whole different way. On top of that will allow larger group of players to still be able to play together a 4/12 man content.
