Stomping Sinmur Quest Bugged, Cannot Complete/Progress

Ecstatic to find another quest that's impossible to progress due to a bug.
Sarcasm aside, after entering Trolhetta Summit, I'm given the objective of killing the Worm Cultists. Great. Everyone loves dead cultists. So I did. The NPCs progressed up the stairs slightly, and.... my objective is still to kill the cultists. There is nothing left to kill, nothing else is triggering. I've dropped the quest and restarted it, reloaded my ui, turned off all addons, NOTHING.
As a side note, dropping the quest entirely and restarting it results in Trollhetta being the same as how I left it during the quest before I dropped it. No new Worm Cultists spawn, NPCs remain where they had moved.

✭For future reference, if anyone else has this trouble, I "fixed" it by repeatedly dropping the quest and just trying again.
Over and over.
Several times.
For SOME reason, it eventually did reset and the NPCs finally went where they were supposed to.
The quest is still bugged and should be looked at, but considering there have been similar issues/reports about this particular bug for years, it'll probably keep happening.
So drop it and restart over and over and it might get workin' for ya if you stumble upon this thread due to having the same problem.PC NA
