If I purchase the new base game direct can I keep my Steam account stuff?

If I purchase the new base game direct will I be able to keep my characters and all their items from my account on Steam? is there a way this can be done?

I don't know. My guess is No you can't keep it since it went through Steam, but I am not sure. This is something you will need to ask Zenimax for sure. I don't know if they would give you a transfer or not, but you can always ask.
