Why cant i equip two of the same unique staff?

I have two elegant serpent's flame staves that I cant equip at the same time, is this working as intended?

With ZO$ logic they will come up with a flawless fix next patch: “ you can now loot unique items once per account only” bam problem solved ZO$ style

KeiruNicrom✭✭✭✭✭Firstly "Unique" items are actual thing that mean you cant even have more than one in the same inventory/bank.
Secondly are you trying to equip them on the same slot? Staves are 2 handed weapons meaning they take up 2 slots. At level 15 you gain access to another combat bar which allows you to equip a second staff and switch between the two.
Thirdly screenshots of said staves would help others help you -

✭As far as I could remember, they removed the unique tag from dropped sets many patches ago, or has something changed? -
Khaleesi8688✭✭✭If it comes from a quest it's possible, or at least it was fairly recently. Do the first quest on a character you don't want the item on, bank it, equip it on the character you want it on and then repeat the quest with that toon. The quest will force it into your inventory and then you should be able to equip it on the other bar. Now you would never be able to unequip them I believe but that's how a friend got 2 unique shields equipped on 1 character.

Is it possible that this would still occur with old items? My ebon shield is old af but definitely cannot put it in the same container in my house/bank/bag/equip it with my new one. -

The "unique" is intended that we can only hold one of it's kind. That is the way I took it and it seems to be the case.
