Let's talk crit resistance

Impenetrable is very good in PVP. Sadly this makes PVE gear pretty bad in PVP and vice versa.

I propose that some crit resistance gets added to battlespirit. This will make PVP more fun for newer or more casual players that are still wearing PVE gear. It will also presumably open up more build diversity because the deminishing returns from the crit resist will allow the use of other traits.

I've always wondered how pvp would be if they removed the 50% healing damage reduction modifiers from pvp and just made it where people couldn't crit.... heals or damage.

I completed vma on my pvp Stam sorc I didn't want to level bow on using his impen gear. Dw/2h in impen was really hard but... The repair bills were really low!

i propose to add a special button which will guarantee you a win in a fight. there will be a pop up hint during combat "press x to win" and if you press x immediately you will win. i think it will add even more fun to casual players than procsets and poisons.

You dont need to run impen in PvP at all. Sure, its there to help. But theyre are plenty of people that run maybe only 2-3 impen.
Lots of well fitted builds, infused/divines builds (My MagSorc runs 3 infused 4 divines and im nearly unkillable by your average player) and even reinforced based builds.

Oh please join a sub 50 bg with full training. Impen just reinforces the idea that PVP is a completly seperate from the main game and not part of the usual leveling experience.

My proposed change would alienate less new players while not being unhealthy to the game like for example sloads.

Magsorc is just the exception to the rule. Unless you are one or some kind of specialist (for example bomber) you are always running at some impen because without it high crit builds just flat out destroy you.

Impen isn't just used because it is mandatory, it is used because it is a very efficient trait. Free crit resistance wouldn't change this, it would just make crit build pretty much useless, because it would become way too easy to negate most if not all critdmg. It would also be an indirect buff to proc sets. No thanks.

Getting some basic pvp gear isn't a big hurdle at all, even for new players. No reason to mess with balance.

This is true if a few deaths don't bother you and you don't care about being best of the best in Cyrodiil. I have tried full impen and zero impen in Cyrodiil and my survival rate is slightly better with full impen but not enough that I would shy away from doing any pvp without impen gear. This of course if my stance on my magicka toons. When it comes to my Med armor stam toons I try to go with as much impen as I can get because I don't have access to shields (Does Bone Shield work like magicka shields in that if it is active you cannot be crit?). Maybe Heavy Armor builds with high resistances could get by with next to no impen as well?

Dont start to implement some thing to make it easier for new player. When you start your first dungeon at lvl 10 with other peeps with the same experience than you wich means nothing, you are not going to complain about its hard to get it without spending a lot of time in it. Well for pvp its basically the same.

Impen is a must have for a reason, and more i play more i get my resi crit higher. There is other trait to play depend of your class or playstyle.
But its not by having some free resi crit that make you die less, it will not change a little thing. For that you need to learn, same thing as pve. And use another gear than your pve gear, otherwise there is no surprise if you die a lot. Dont try to make it easier. Learn.

I assume you are talking about under level 50 pvp (unable to wear CP 160 gear yet) - because if you are under level 50 it would be more difficult to find appropriately leveled gear from guild vendors, especially if you are looking to purchase lowq-level gear in a particular armor trait. However, once you can wear max leveled armor, putting together a reasonably-priced pvp armor set becomes much easier, although you may have to peruse several guild vendors to find a matching set. On the other hand, there are plenty of crafted sets that people wear quiet often in pvp and the nice thing about crafted sets is that they can be made in a variety of armor levels and you can choose whatever armor trait you want.

If your issue is specific to having crit resistance, and you want to wear your non-impen pve set, you could always wear a 'damage shield' over your pve set to protect you against crit damage.

I mean it’s your fault for going in to PvP with PvE gear on. They shouldn’t change the game to cater to people who don’t want to spend the time to either grind for sets, or farm for the gold to buy the sets. I mainly PvP, but when I want to PvE I farm for divines gear like everyone else and don’t complain.

Actually, your suggested change would just allow good players to further optimise their builds - A new player running a couple random traits with some base CR from BS would now fair worse against someone who knows the game, can drop X pieces of impen trait and pick up more SD/Recovery/Max etc. This is a change that benefits experienced and intelligent players, not noobs.

Impen is far from PvP only

    - Impen is important for some builds but pointless for anyone who can cast a huge shield and keep up their rotation.
    - I was leveling a new toon in Cyrodiil yesterday in 7 pieces of blue level 14 training gear in Vivec. It was more than enough due to the first point.
    - Almost everyone has high crit resist and most DPS players build for high crit which essentially means that what this forum tells everyone they are “supposed to do” is backwards. They cancel each other out and you are left with a large portion of the playerbase wet noodle slapping each other.
    - I run 1057 crit resist on all my magic toons just out of CP. In reality this means I die maybe 10% more than I would otherwise. A significant majority of these are horse riding snipe spams. So if you REALLY don’t want to die on your horse from 35 meters away to a glitchy ability then by all means, pump up your crit resist. Conversely if you have enough magic to have your shield above 10k in Cyrodiil then you will also have enough magic to burn down almost every player you come across. In ESO PvP the best defense is a good offense, period.

Well, if say I'm in a BG and it's Xv1 and my bud is going through his normal abilities, hell ya I'm gonna spam an execute

    1. I want the points
    2. I wanna make sure you don't survive

If it's me and another vs 1 opponent, they will die (as it should be - because at best they'll be on par with me, and any additional anything from anyone is putting it over the edge)

I do think addressing this could make it to where you could jump between PvP and PvE a little easier but the problem is, you basically would see more damage from infused and divines coming in to where you might want to just double down on impen or if you took out crit, you'd see more reinforced. Maybe would see people running full well fitted to avoid single target monsters all together Guess I am saying I cant predict the meta, but I believe there will be a new PvP trait.

so my 3900 crit resistance stam nb gonna be useless ?
the reason crit resistance is effective is later on every damage character will add some crit rate and crit damage as it make already huge dps more hit hard.
and dont forget RNG based mechanics sometimes make competitive game not fair, crit resist meantto reduce reduce its randomness.

if im correcrt, 68 crit resistance = reduce 1% crit damage. its effective and easy to gain, there is no reason to make pve player easier to get it.
