DW: Dagger Axe or Double Dagger

I stumbled across some nerd talk recently and this was the topic. The premise was the axe bleed is just fluff and the extra Crit from 2 Daggers outweighs the bleed.

Well, over here in console land, there’s not really a good way to test these things out so easily. Is this well known or not so well known? Don’t even get started on maces.

Also, while you’re here...Trap beast. Front bar, back bar or both bars? A few have been getting more damage by double barring Just the for the extra passives I think. I found it interesting anyways.

What are your thoughts on this. Anyone who knows.

I had a lot of time on my hands and did A LOT of parses on the PTS using the same setup with the exception of changing weapons (not this PTS, the previous one, but no reason for the results to differ).

Here's the raw data with 6 parses done with every single weapon combo (during which I found out that maces were bugged on PTS but not live... Zos consistency & stuff...):



And the results summed up:



Note that since maces were providing higher than expected penetration (due to PTS bug), they should be lower than the final resullts.

The "Top 3" ranking only takes into account the best 3 parses only.

Gear used was Relequen, Advancing Yokeda & Selene on a stamblade.

For short, axe / dagger is a better pick, however it falls behind when it comes to AoE, due to few ways to proc bleeds on multiple targets. In both cases, the difference isn't all that big.

The differences between all the parses are so low and subject to error margins due to higher crits in some parses or lucky bleeds a well, so even if said error margin has been mitigated a bit, someone else doing the tests can definitely get slightly different results.
