vertical sync no longer works

i always played with the v sync activated to limit the fps to 60 because at my laptop it frequently changes between 10fps and 100fps and i find more comfortable to deal with changes between 10fps and 60fps.

unfortunately it no longer working. i already update the graphic drivers i even tried to force v sync on nvidia control panel, but it's over, it no longer works if i activate it on game settings or at nvidia control panel. it happened with the last update and i have no idea how fix it now. is there any way to force the v sync other than on game settings and nvidia control panel?

    You could go to Usersettings.ini
    Set vsync 1
    If that does not work
Set minframetime .00161(brings max fps to 61)
Or if it was 0.0161 where ever the 1 start at add 61 after.

you can also use RivaTuner to limit your framerate at a driver level.....its what I do to keep within my Gsync range.

setting vsync 1 doesn't change anything, but changing minframetime worked.

anyway my game is acting weird, at 100fps, 60fps or 30fps it doesn't make any difference, it still feels that it's running at 20fps. i remember that before the last update 60fps was great and much better than 20fps, now it's just a number, the image still breaks a lot. maybe i have some problem in my hardware. this really weird and i can't even understand why the vsync no longer works.

thanks for your help. i'm going to try RivaTuner and check also how other games are running.

@NeKryXe I have to manually change my: SET GPUSmoothingFrames "10" (down from "100") after each patch since SI.

It removes visual artifacts ("black flashing", image breaks/tears) and microstutters completely + my GPU isn't screaming and running hot, while running eso. This might help you, too. Make a copy of your user.settings file before change, so its easily reverted in case it doesn't help.

    Good luck.

my GPUSmoothingFrames is "0", is this normal?

unfortunately, since the last week update i was forced to abandon the game. looks like without vsync i get a headache after a few minutes playing :( i've been playing since beta, but this recent remove of vsync is putting me out of the game.

thank you for all your tips. i'll keep trying until i find a way to get the vsync working again.
