Magsorc pve asylum staff question

So on my high elf non pet magsorc I’ve tried 3 combinations. BSW - siroria - llambris // MS - SIRORIA - llambris // Asylum - bsw - siroria. And so far I’ve had the highest dps out of all the combos using the bsw - siroria - llambris with thief Mundus. I hear a lot of ppl tell me that the asylum staff will really boost my dps but I don’t see that to be the case. My asylum staff is normal so does it HAVE to be perfected to make a difference? I’m also farming to get either a fire or lightning Vma staff for backbar. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Yes, if the Asylum staff is not perfected it will be a DPS loss. I have found that 5X Siroria (or Moondancer for mobile fights) with 3X Willpower, Asylum and Maelstrom Staves, and a Monster Helm set is the best gear for Mag Sorc.

Siroria + Sorrow + Monster Helm Set seems to be a close 2nd though, and is much easier to obtain.

Basically you don’t ever want to replace the monster helm, Zaan, Slimecraw and Ilambris are all excellent for DPS. You also want to keep a 5pc Slayer set at all times, and Siroria is the best for stationary fights. The only way an Asylum staff becomes viable is with Willpower, since it’s 2+3 piece bonuses are about equal to the 2+3+4 piece bonuses on Spellweave or Sorrow, and the Asylum staff bonus can outperform the 5pc bonus on Spellweave or Sorrow.

I ran dps test for roughly the past 2 hours and so far the set that gives me the highest parse dps is BSW - Siroria - Llambris - their stone. The insane spell damage plus the Crit seems to beat MS - Siroria - Llambris - Apprentice. Also it’s faitly easy for me to keep my stacks in most trials. I really appreciate your input and will wait until I get the asylum perfect. I also heard a masters flame front bar and Vma Fire backbar is a good combo.

Yes, your tests remind me of another good point. Spellweave is better than Sorrow for solo content or on a dummy parse (assuming you are using double inferno staves) because you will likely have a low crit multiplier. If you are in a group with good aggressive warhorn Major Force uptime then Sorrow will pull ahead slightly. If you have a source of Minor Force (guard, trap, accelerate, Twilight Remedy) then this would also make Sorrow perform better.

Well like I said for the most part I can keep the siroria stacks high which is more dps, but if the fight has ALOT of movement then I trade it out with MS. Now I’m trying to figure out if the non perfected asylum staff will improve my dps.
