Raid Marks (ways to mark specific group members) *IDEA/SUGGESTION*

Okey, so I will start of by saying that this system I will describe is a very usefull and popular system in at least one other MMO-RPG game.

What I noticed when doing trials is the lack of visability. You have a certain tactic, lets say you split into two groups and you need to always stay infront of your healer within that group. Either you need to know your group very well and know exactly where your healer will go. Or you will have to look at other characters and read their name and make sure you're infront of the healers name. This makes it a bit unclear during combat and especially if you pug.

Another thing that raid marks could and are used for is marking specific locations on the ground. If you have a tactic where someone in the group needs to go to a specific place at specific times it makes the whole experience a lot more pleasant if you as a raid/trial leader can mark that location so it's easy for that person to know exactly where to go.

The main thing with raid marks is to dump down the visual clutter. A way for your brain to easily sort which information is usefull and which isn't.

Here's an example of how it could look (in the example I choosed to show one raid mark on a player and one on the ground but the prefered amount of raid marks would need to be more than one.)

I came in here thinking this was a new add-on, still I am not disappointed, this would be super useful for teaching new trial Raiders the basics.

Hopefully some one is able to make an add-on like this. Don't really know who add-ons work, just so you know if I sound stupid.

The problem wwith an addon would be that everyone would need that specific addon so it would be by far better for Zenimax to implement this directly into the game. Apart from that I'm not sure if the mark on the ground would be possible in an addon and I think the mark sharing would be a tricky thing to solve for an addon aswell.

And no, you didn't sound stupid

Changed the title to prevent further confusion so people know when they click into this topic that it's not something that exists already. Just a suggestion on something I would like to be in the game.

I don't think it's implementable as an add-on at this moment. In comments to HarvestMap I've seen mentioning that game API doesn't allow add-ons to create 3D visual objects in dungeons/trials (for that reason, HarvestMap doesn't show 3D pins there), and it's intentional - the alleged (by the comment author) reasoning was that it would trivialize the dungeon mechanics.

Granted, while I'm on a fence about having mechanics-related markers (it would make things more... mechanical), I would at least quite welcome more visibility on roles - it would sometimes save a bit of confusion to be able to spot tanks or healers quickly.

I would like to second that having role markers floating over teammates' heads would be useful.

The reason I would rather see something like raid marks instead of role marks is because of the unnecessary information your brain has to collect in order to sort out the necessary information. On top of that it's not always you only want to sort out the healers and tanks, sometimes a specific DD needs to do something special and needs to be sorted out.

Something I didn't mention in my OG (original post) is the use of raid marks in pvp envirement. In cyrodiil it would be very overwhelming for the player if the role mark was clearly visible due to the amount of DDs in the group and the rarity of healers and tanks. It would be hard to sort out where exactly the healer is.

In battlegrounds where there's low scaled pvp envirements, being able to sort out which DD is which is even more important. If you can mark your magBlade with one mark and your stamWarden with another mark you can cleary see which player your with or running towards which gives you a clear idea of what toolkit you have avalible in that specific situation. It can also help you know whether that player will need backup or not when an adversary is closing in.

ESO was released with its' pride in sporting a minimalistic UI. I believe this is the reason we have no map and a severe lack of markers. Therefore, you lads are pushing s*** up hill. Good luck.
