Mini-Trials vs Full Trials - which do you like better?

A trial is essentially a 12-player Group Dungeon. There are adds. There are bosses. There are mechanics to follow which makes each boss fight feel totally different through the implementation of lots of new mechanics.

A mini-trial is the same thing, but.... mini. There are no adds. Instead you progress directly to the bosses. There are mini-bosses and a main boss, and “Hard mode” consists of stacking mini-bosses in the same fight as the main boss rather than new mechanics.

Trials:
• Hel Ra Citadel
• Aetherian Archive
• Sanctum Ophidia
• Maw of Lorkhaj
• Halls of Fabrication

Mini-trials:
• Asylum Sanctorium
• Cloudrest

Which do you prefer?

EDIT: Looks like my poll bugged out *AGAIN*

My poll options were:

- Regular (Full) Trials are better
- Mini-Trials are better
- Both equally fine
- Don’t care
- Other

This Summerset patch is so buggy it has managed to curse the forums too for those of us on mobile :(

Regular trials for... everything. I just don't find any satisfaction in completing the entire trial in a few minutes. Not to mention in order to make the mini trials difficult, they go insane with the one shots and unforgiving mechanics. At least MoL and HoF have a rhythm, AS and even CR are just.... tedious.

Regular trials are the true spirit of it. Both are nice and welcome, but mini-trials shouldn't be the new meta. Especially in a chapter there should be a full trial.

I'm okay with mini trials if they're actually entertaining like Cloudrest. Asylum is...ugh.
But I want a new full trial like Maw or HoF. Intense fights with those heart-racing moments. When you finally clear it, you get intense satisfaction.

Real trials by far. I wish they would stop doing the mini trials, especially since they were getting really good a making proper trials. MoL and HoF are both great.

Mini trials are great for farming gear sets, you get straight to the point. But to me i see it as ZO$ not putting much effort into the quality of the trial. Make it an option to do Mini trial or regular

MoL and HoF are the most fun trials in the game.

AS and CR are the least fun.

Definitely like full trials a lot more. vCR is a step in the right direction as far as mini-trials go, but that only because the last fight is a step towards an actual trial . For real though, the mechanics of the last boss for CR is cool. I just personally like longer trials with more unique encounters. Going in to vCR the mini bosses are nothing like coming up to the first few bosses in both vMol and vHoF where there's a real sense of progression. Its not fun fighting the last boss in vAS+2 as the only sense of progression you get in the trial is "ohhh we went for 48% to 37%!" or whatever the case is.

Quoting my self from another thread about the same topic:

"In my opinion the "mini trials" get boring and repetitive very quickly. I personally like long bossfights in general, but it doesn't really work with how most bosses in ESO are designed as the lack clear phases and repeat the same mechanics over and over. I also think trial design in general got a lot worse since MOL, my favourite trial. The newer trials are too cluttered with pointless mechanics, that either do nothing but distract or allow no smart counterplay. I actually like what they have done with CR in comparison to AS, in order to make the mechanics less repetitive and more diverse. But in the end it's pretty much the same, very simple mechanics that only become a problem because the overlap like crazy. I haven't even completed vCR HM jet, but I'm already tired of that trial. I really hope the next trial will be a actual "full" trial again."

Just that I now have cleared hardmode and my opinion hasn't changed at all.

    All have their place.

    I prefer full trials personally.

I'd like to see the next 'mini-trial' actually be a 12 person arena, similar to vDSA but bigger and more epic!

I like both as long as they are not so extrem rng mechanic overlapping like vAS. Mini trials getting way faster boring than normal trials but can be nice to start with the boss fights for some fast pew pew. In my opinion both trials can be nice but please do not only make mini trials.

vAA could get an continuation since this place looks really amazing or vMol because this trial was really nice.

I'm glad there are both in the game. Sometimes minitrials seem so short, but other times fighting mobs between bosses just feels like a chore between fun parts.

    Just stop

Edit- Plenty of nice people here having a general conversation. All of which has to do with trials, so they likely run trials and like trials. Just because we enjoy it doesn't mean you have to come in to put people down and try to breed a negative view of a group of people. You don't have to like them that's fine. I'm not a super big fan of questing or pvp.

    Regular trials every time.
Although, what I would really like is something huge, and epic.
A trial where we battle through lots of bosses and trash to get to the last boss.
Maybe even with a save progress feature because it's so huge.
I could be just getting sentimental over some of my favourite WoW raids though...

I just don't like these mini trials much, they get boring far too quickly.

Trash mobs are called it for a reason... BORING. Mini trials are better, but I think hardmode should be its own boss mechanic rather than just stacking all bosses in 1 fight (Each should be seperate)

Yes, yes! The loot would have to be similarly epic, however, in order to get teams willing to invest the time.

"Trash Mob" stacking tacticts are sometimes as hard as bossfights, in some instances even harder (vMoL big stacks are a good reference here) and do influence the clearing speed much more than Boss times.

Mini Trials aren't bad, especially Cloudrest is in my opinion a great trial. Asylum is amazing when the fight is smooth and everything works out. STILL trials like vMoL vHoF feel so much better and so much more rewarding when clearing. And also speedrunning them requires alot more effort from the players.
In addition to that, Mini trials just force people who want to be competetive to play MagNightblades or to be a special Snowflake surrounded by MagNightblades. The literal fight for survival in vAS+2 and vCR+3 is just so much easier cleared on MagNightblades than any other class. That is cause the Hardmodes and generally only BossFights require only the class that does best you dont need any classes that dish out tonns of AoE for trash and you dont need to plan nearly as much.

Sadly i have to add here that by making Sunderflame+NightMother'sGaze uselesss ZOS also supported this movement towards only 1 type of class/spec to silver bullet through some trials.

vHoF and vMoL especially do require certain SingleTarget and certain Multi Target where atleast it's split into Magicka and Stamina Nightblades, StamPlar and StamSorc if more AoE is required to fill into the different roles required.

The early Gryphon Heart on EU and NA short after also proves my point.

Full Trials should be the way to go, as 2 mini trials are absolutely enough for now.
