Good Vma magdk sets?

This is strictly asking about sets for magdks in Vma. Right now I’m wearing 5 bsw, 5 Julianos, and 2 valkyn..but I was thinking of trading Julianos for IA? What do you guys think ? And what works for you?

Personally I run elf & lich, don't go for leaderboards and making the rotation/sustain a mini game is effort just for farming gear.

Lol yeah I have no intention of trying for leaderboards but I also wanna know which of the 2 (Julianos or IA) is better suited for Vma?

Juli gives double spell dmg & 1k max mag. Infal gives 5% dmg & heavy attack bonus.

If your timing is good you can line up a heavy as soon as ads spawn to insta nuke them. Juli would give more healing and bigger shields for relatively equal damage (plus you can go heavy chest medium legs to maximise resistances).

All depends what you'd prefer, there's no set that's better than another in vMA really since you'd want a blend of dmg and survivability that suits your skill/playstyle.

Unless you are really good at lining up heavy attack burst combos for portals and trying to nuke bosses, I would probably advise keeping your julianos. In reality, I doubt you will feel much difference between the two. Also, I'm assuming you arent doing some sort of lighting staff heavy attack build, which actually has been really popular on DK in the past. If you were, IA might be more useful.

Another set you could definitely consider (especially if back barring a VMA staff) would be Mother's Sorrow. It works really well on just one bar.

I just cleared it with 2 Grothdarr 5 BSW 5/3 IA w lightning front bar & Maelstrom inferno back bar. If it's your first char just go with 5 Julianos 5 BSW 2 Grothdarr or Zaan. I actually like Grothdarr more since it's AoE and also 1p bonus is max magicka which ups your Harnesd Magicka tooltip a bit. Also lightning staff is for AoE.

Going for leaderboards on DK is as easy as finishing in one go. Got 506K w 10/15 on 1st clear and finished as #15. Many stupid mistakes since I hadn't run it in 5 months.

Or farm 3 in an afternoon (which I have done), or buy one for 70k and trait change. 300k for a BIS front bar weapon really isnt all that much in any event.

Also, I agree with @Asardes. Big fan of grothdar in VMA.

May RNG be ever in your favor I've gave up farming one, same with BSW.

Just buy/farm 3 Mother's Sorrow jewelry and 2 armor pieces - this is WAY faster and cheaper
As 2nd set you can use Julianos (both staves and 3 gear pieces) or any other not so expensive set
Also you still have a room for 2pcs monster set (shoulders and helmet)
