Question about the horses

I was wondering if there are any plans in development to update some of the old horses with the new model and texture assets.

General forum-goers may feel free to weigh in with whether they think that'd be a good idea.

My opinion: I'd love to see a nightmare courser done with the new assets, even if it were a separate crown store item that doesn't overwrite the classic.

They constantly reskin previous mounts and they have some skins that are slight tweaks of previous skins.

ZoS has a habit of not looking back at old content so I wouldnt hype those horses up too much this is probably not gonna happen tho im sure most of the players would love to see a more accurate horse shape on those mounts...maybe ppl would actually use them but then how will zeni sell their new reskinned versions of their new shape horses?...

Ah i forgot to mention there was a horsie with the stripes on the back part i cant recall the exact name of it sth mustang that recently came maybe with the scalecaller crates....that mount was datamined years ago but it wasnt released until now and even tho they alrdy had the new horse shape existing for quite a while they didnt bother applying it to the mustang they just released it with the original robust shape....so following this logic I dont see them updating any of those horses.

Yes, you raise a good point. I suppose the best we could realistically hope for is releases of mounts that are somewhat adjacent to the old ones. Tbh, if it's black and stylish, I'll be happy!

Well as long as they are not overpriced...tho im pretty surprised with the pricing of the summerset horse that was released yesterday...if they keep their prices reasonable then yeh im looking forward to see some horses that resemble the good old ones just with a better look.

I was surprised by that, too! I'm also pleasantly surprised to see more mounts being released for an indefinite period. If this trend keeps up, I will gladly splurge on some updated horses.

I think horses, deer, and guar need to match the senche and wolves when it comes to "recovery" after jumping. The aforementioned 3 have a noticable slowdown after jumping, whereas the senche and wolves keep moving at sprint speed.

It would be a nice quality of life improvement without any negative consequences.

I definitely noticed that on my horses and deer, but didn't realize the senche and wolves didn't do that. I'll have to test it out! I agree it'd be nice if they didn't do that anymore.

Oh please, don't taint the old horses with the awful shape of the new one!
The old ones were much more realistc, even if they are nothing to write home about themselves. But at least neither their hindlegs nor their heads are as ugly and distorted!
The new horse-shape has nothing to do with anything remotely equine.

This! The old models at least looked like horses!

The ‘slender’ model is an abomination, with most of the musculature scooped off its rear quarters it looks like it shouldn’t be able to physically run let alone bear a rider. It looks more like a dog than a horse. It has dog butt. Not horse butt.

I am pretty confident that the old models won’t be changed however. There should be more variety in the horse mounts - it was a good idea, just poor execution. There should be a heavy charger model for warhorses, and a more light, elegant model for civilian mounts. But until there is a good ‘slender’ model built from the ground up, I want to see the next unique Crown store horse using the heavy model.

Witch-Knight Charger is still the best mount evah!

I agree with the posters above - I much prefer the old horse model to the new skinny one. The new shape looks ok on some mounts, like that pale sparkly horse they released a while ago. But I really wouldn't want to see my existing horses 'updated' to use it.

I'd love to see more of a variety of horse models and if they could do some realistic ones then I'd be in favour of some of the older horses being updated, but if it's a choice between the two we've got now I'd prefer to stick with the old model.

Newer horses have better heads, but their back legs look worse.
I wish they'd kept the older horse bodies (if they weren't going to improve the back legs any) and just gave it a nicer, more realistic head.

Interestingly, I actually do agree with a lot of the things you've all said! There are certainly things that bother me about the new models--particularly the hind legs and skinny tummies you've all mentioned. I also really agree that there should be some heavier models, and I think it'd be nice if some of the horses were just taller compared to the character model. Now, I do think the heads on the new models look better (not perfect, better), and the textures are less plastic, and for those reasons they're edged a little closer to my preferences. It's a horse a piece, though. (Hurk hurk.)

I think this is what they were going for.
