Converting Steam Account

So, about 6 months into playing the game, and really enjoy it. REALLY hate the never ending "Steam login" issues. Is there any way to purchase the game from ZOS and transfer my steam-based account into a "real" account that's likely to work most of the time?

Thanks!

    Edit -Step-by-step instructions: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/423493/how-to-purchase-access-to-the-regular-launcher-eso64-exe-for-steam-users

Yes. Go to https://www.elderscrollsonline.com/en-us/home and login through Steam. Go to Buy Now, buy a copy of the base game.

It'll be attached to your account and you'll have the ability to login through ESO64.exe and/or download the regular launcher from your account page.

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom Might be time to make this option legit for Steam players. If you can't give them access to the regular launcher for free, even steep discount will be better than nothing.

ugh, i cant decide if that's worthwhile or not, 20$ is a lot for a once a week problem, that's not the fault of the steam player, but then again... its getting ridiculous.

So I can buy a new copy and sign in with my account and it'll work? All of my characters, items, acheivements, ect. will transfer over to the non-steam version? I don't have some stupid exception tied to my account that says it will only work through steam? I know its stupid to ask, because I don't know why it wouldn't work, but I don't want to buy another copy and find out that some stupid bit of code is preventing me from signing in outside of steam.

You have to sign into the website using your Steam login. That's your ESO account. Once you do that and you're logged in, you can purchase the base game off the website, and it'll attach that purchase to your ESO account (the Steam one). Then you'll have the proper access credentials to login through ESO64.exe, and there should also be a new button on your Account Page that says "Download" for the regular launcher.

*Make sure you sign into the website with Steam before you buy anything. You're trying to associate your Steam ESO account with your purchase, not make a new account.*

Yes. You can actually buy the game (again!) and they will allow you to use your account as a non steam game. Imagine that; It's their screw-up but you have to pay for it. But wait! There's more: you HAVE to pay the ultra high price on the website instead of a cheap (legitimate) key of a site like those I know from experience I am not allowed to mention (even though they are legitimate sellers fully allowed to sell keys that ZOS themselves have allowed them to sell). Great customer service. God im so sick of abysmally bad customer service

I made a separate post showing this step-by-step.
