You could probably do more DPS without the weaving in this situation.
Make sure to apply all of your DOTs successfully before using your 'spammable' and you should reach 20k without issue.
The order that skills are on your bar (or at least the order in which you use them) can often also have a huge affect on numbers.

For Example: DK 'Engulfing Flames - Affected enemies take 7% more damage from all Flame Damage attacks'
Using that before you apply your other flame damage just passively increases your damage.

Maybe try with using just 1 bar, and see if you can get higher numbers.
Might sound counter productive, but if the issue is with speed, bar swapping might actually be hindering your progress.

I'm apparently pretty bad at this.

I hardly ever do any group content, and my characters cut through overland easily.

My Stamblade does 25k against Clockwork dummy. In dungeons or trials I've seen it fluctuate from 15k to 30k depending on the fight.

5 Spriggans/5 Hundings/2 Shackle (2 daggers). I have no monster sets, all gold quality except for 2 purple rings, all passives (including Undaunted). Warrior Mundus. WD is 3696 (unbuffed), Stam is over 38000 with food.

I mostly follow Alcast's build, rotation, advice, etc. (Though I do not have caltrops yet. Neglected PvP all these years...)

I weave in light attacks, and CPs (over 900) are assigned mostly according to Constellations after parsing on Clockwork Dummy.

Is my problem no monster set? Wrong gear sets? Poor CP assignment? Or, that I'm just not very good at this?

I have neglected my guild's group activities simply because I feel I am not good enough to participate. Though they have never said anything in the slightest like that... I just want to be performing adequately and not be carried by anyone.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Average dps means only sustained single target dps taken into account only with self buffs.
Who are these 100K dps ? 60K is maximum single target DPS that only achieved by NBs. Other classes mostly capped at 45K. Warden capped at 35K.

Everything else is lie.

I’m what you call a button masher, i’ve done everything i can think of to try and get my dps above 15k, on good days i can drop 27-32k per 1.5seconds but that still comes out to around 15k. I enjoy playing as templar the most, but i also hate the staves. So i normally use dual wield. It would be nice if ZO$ made weapon/spell damage the same regardless of what you had equipped as far as weapons... meaning you get the same bonus to your weapon/spell damage if you equip dual wial vs sword and shield vs staff vs two handed vs bow

Main nightblade so going off that 38k mag 42k stam. However when not parsing dummys or in vet trials I don't use spell/weap pots that often, also dont really follow a rotation, so 20-25k would be average.

god... i thought my 10k - 13k dps was high... spent so much time looking for a great build and now i see the vast majority is doing 40k lol. How does one even get to the ESO meta?

On the Precursor dummy its around 24K. On the 3mill skelly my DPS drops to about 17k mainly because of sustain issues. This is on my magplar with crafted and overland gear all purple. I've never run a group dungeon or trial because I don't think I'm good enough to be an effective team member. Practicing on a dummy is like watching paint dry..

IMO If you cant get close to 30k dps on a test dummy with very little outside buffs than you shouldnt que for a damage dealer for tougher content.
