Templar healer - extended ritual vs purge

I’ve run a Templar for years. Always used extended ritual. One of my best skills.

How is purge different or better? Isn’t it only useful for non Templars?

This is for trial and vet dungeons on hard mode etc.

From what I know Purge is way more costly...and probably yes if you are templar you don't really need it

In most cases, Extended Ritual is enough.
But there are encounters where you need Purge IN ADDITION to Extended Ritual. Some examples would be Positrox+Negatrix in vHoF, triple bosses in vHof, Twins in vMoL, Last boss in vAS and so on.

Ritual synergy has 20 sec cooldown what is really too long for the named encounters.

Purge can be useful in content where the purify needs to be instant, or your group is either too stupid or too busy to purify themselves. I slot purges any time there are really dangerous statuses, like vMOL, vBloodroot second boss, or even seige in PVP.

I use both. I always use ritual but some dungeons/trials need an instant purge that comes from the skill. Especially in some places like vHoF, where the purge is rather unreliable.

Ritual simply doesn't purge enough for certain fights and I would never rely on DDs taking synergies in situations where a cleanse is essential.

Efficient Purge on healers is really good for certain mechanics, like the first boss in vHoF, last boss in vAS and a few others. Otherwise it's really costly.

Most reply’s say the same, and I’m asking because I was doing hof and they were speaking of purge, which I knew I had with ritual. But I’ll add purge for these situations.

Thanks. Never even considered purge until now. I do more dungeons than trials.
