Stamina Warden PVP Bow Build - The Amazon

Hi everyone,

Just sharing a build I have had some luck with on the stamina warden in PVP. If you have a warden but are tired of the standard Two-Handed or Dual Wield setups, this may inject some life back into the class for you. It's a different kind of play style entirely, focusing on ranged damage, AOE burst, and survivability. This build is made for No CP Battlegrounds, but may be equally effect in Cyrodiil.

Read on if you are interested or check out the videos below if you want to see the build in action.

Build Goals:
  • High damage burst while remaining at range
  • AOE burst when against small groups of players
  • High survivability, passive healing, stamina recovery, and ultimate regen.

Race/Consumables

RACE: I went Nord for this build to amp up my survivability even more since we are running full medium. Nord’s have 6% damage reduction on top of Ice Fortress (8%) for a total of 14% damage reduction. Nord’s heal recovery boost synergizes well with Troll King for passive healing while roll dodging and sprinting away from a fight.

FOOD/DRINK: Dubious Camerone Throne is the obvious choice to proc Bone Pirate. The new gold drink will also be nice if it is patched to finally run as a drink (is it?).

Potion: Weapon Crit/Stamina/Health: Weapon crit is important to any bow build to help amp your burst potential. Warden’s can get it innately using Lotus Blossom, but I didn’t have room for this skill on my bars. Health is a very good potion trait on this build to additionally amp our already high health recovery.

Sets:
  • Bone Pirate - We want a large stamina pool and regen base, especially in no CP. Bone pirate is the best in ESO for this purpose. Pieces: 3 jewelry (2 robust - stam recovery, one infused - weapon damage); 2 body pieces
  • Spriggans - Since Stamina classes have 0 innate penetration from Medium (we need this!) you will see the biggest raw amp in damage by running Spriggans. Obviously the exception to this is any target running shields, so avoid them or wait until their shield is down. Pieces: 1 Bow (infused) and 3 body pieces.
  • Troll King - this is essentially for many stamina classes now in Summerset. As mentioned, this gets amped through the roof by Nord/Potion passives and is a great counter to the Sload’s Meta. Once Troll King procs you can heal while Sprinting and Dodge rolling to avoid damage.
  • Backbar / Two-Hander (defending) - Spriggan is not need on the backbar, which means you can run any two piece set you want here. I choose to run Seducer for extra magic regen to help me pump out those Shimmering Shields and Bird Wings.

Skills:

Frontbar - Infused Bow

  • Poison Injection - No brainer DOT skill for any Bow Build. Many times this is your killing blow if your initial burst isn’t enough.
  • Snipe - Initial opening skill. Big burst damage and a big debuff.
  • Draining Shot - Our stun and front bar heal. If your initial burst doesn’t kill the target, pop this off and repeat. Note that the range is much less than Poison Injection and Snipe, so you will need to risk closing the distance.
  • Cutting Dive - this, combined with Poison Injection and bow light attack can finish many targets that are low health.
  • Sub. Assault - Work on timing this to land just before your Snipe/Poison injection combo for HUGE damage as well as amped damage on further attacks (Major Fracture).
  • Flawless Dawnbreaker - slotted mostly for a passive 8% weapon damage, but also great when combined with Sub. Assault for quick burst damage on groups.

Backbard - Defending 2H
  • Shimmering Shield - this is your main survivability tool on Stamina Warden. A big shield and major heroism. This will save your tuckus!
  • Bird of Prey - Speed as well as Minor Berserk (8% damage buff). Make sure to use this before beginning your burst.
  • Vigor - our main heal over time. Combine this with Draining Shot or Healing Thicket to take the pressure off.
  • Forward Momentum - our main source of Major Brutality (20% weapon damage buff). Also removes snares. Pop this before engaging a fight or before roll dodging and escaping a group around a corner. A MUST have buff 100% because the heal will proc Troll King without you having to worry about it.
  • Ice Fortress - Major ward/resolve with 8% damage mit.
  • Healing Thicket - save this for clutch moments as well as keeping your group alive in a small area.

Other considerations:
  • You MUST have an animal companion ability slotted on both bars for the 12% extra recovery passive. This means either Sub. Assault or Bird of Prey needs to be backbarred.
  • No Bull Netch? This build has enough recovery and the Major Brutality was redundant since we were already using FM. Save a bar slot.
  • Always be light attacking for the Hawk Eye passive. Ideally you would be at 5 stacks before unleashing a Snipe for maximum damage.

I ran a Bow/Bow warden for a bit and found a lot of success with Marksman and Morag Tong. A lot of your damage abilities are poison damage. And a Warden has a lot of stamina regen built in to make Bone Pirate unnecessary. Marksman provides enough reduced cost for stamina to make you never run out of resources. And rather than running cutting dive, you would be better served with Crushing Weapon and the chance to apply status effects. I have found that crushing weapon synergizes well with a bow build.

I thought about crushing weapon actually, but can't bothered to do that quest line on yet another character. I did test Morag Tong against Spriggans and the damage is very close. Morag Tong would not buff Cutting Dive or Crushing (both physical damage) nor will it buff light attacks or weapon glyphs (last I checked, though I could be wrong on the poison glyph). All of those attacks will be buffed by Spriggans though. However, it is so close that I don't think you can say one or the other is the clear winner.

Kill time is about 4 - 5 seconds for most customers. Prime members can expect a slightly speedier death depending on armor mitigation and postal service. B)
