Yet, paying $200 or more for something that gives you enjoyment for hundreds if not thousands of hours... there IS value to that for some of us.
At least when I go on a week end or partying, I know what I am paying for and I get it. RNG boxes however.... It is not really fun to be cheated imo.
That’s definitely half the issue. Imagine going to a restaurant, being shown a menu, but told you pay $20 and they bring you a random item from the list. It’s cool though because if you don’t like what they serve you can just try again with another $20!
The other half of the problem is this is the state of video games in 2018 and the younger players don’t even seem to realize how shafted they are. Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, were $60 for hundreds, even thousands, of hours of game time. Today we have players being fooled into gambling hundreds, even thousand, of dollars four times a year on sparkly collections of pixels for them to sit on in towns hoping the players running past them are jealous and not simply laughing their asses off.
Enjoy your $200 green gummy bear though I’m sure it feels like a fantastic value purchase when you really think about it!
Buying 60 crates does not "pay off for you" unless that green senche is going to go get a job and help pay for all the crates that you bought...
You'd have to do a lot better to convince me you make 80-100k which is why I'll give that comment a -7/10 on the bait scale.Ihatenightblades wrote: »TheCyberDruid wrote: »If it's not, people like you are the reason why real problems with the game are not fixed.
What is really sad is that this is most likely a real person feeling great about spending 200$ in a video game to get one mount. I'm a bit sad that this is how 'gaming' feels like in 2018, but I guess it's still better than P2W. But then again I'm not too sure if the game is barely playable any more.
Some of us arent kids and make 80-100k a year so spending 200$ isnt a real life changing decision.. theres also nothing wrong with having a tight budget and being good at avoiding expensive things that arent considered “needs” ( a shiny mount for example ) but if someone spends 200-300$ i wouldnt call that the face of this generations gaming community. Some people have the money some dont some people drive mercedez benz some people drive a prius its all up to you

Some people buy a painting for hundreds of millions of dollars too, crazy people
https://gizmodo.com/5145287/cloaca-no5-is-a-monster-pooping-machineCloaca No.5 isn't some fancy perfume from Paris—far from it. It is actually an elaborate reproduction of the human digestive system produced by Belgian artist Wim Delvoye. And all it does is poop.
The machine is fed leftovers from the cafeteria at the gallery which is converted into feces by a number of mechanical processes that reproduce what the human body does naturally. In the end, a turd shoots out—vacuum packed and suitable for framing.

If you can make 'art' you can make money off of people who feel they have too much and are looking for an excuse to throw money around
case in point, Cloaca #5https://gizmodo.com/5145287/cloaca-no5-is-a-monster-pooping-machineCloaca No.5 isn't some fancy perfume from Paris—far from it. It is actually an elaborate reproduction of the human digestive system produced by Belgian artist Wim Delvoye. And all it does is poop.

The art exhibit is the machine operating, and the turds it pops out each session get sold as an art piece
To reiterate, it is literally possible to sell people poo if you dress it up as art

What makes me sad is that there are fair struggling hard working people in this world who have barely enough to feed their children...
Then someone blows $200 or even $1000 on a game just to get a bunch of shiny pixels.
Not only that... They go ahead and show off with it...
If I had those 200... I'd spend it on people in need of help. And no, not charity. Directly.
Then trade in your gaming system and do something good instead of wasting all that money!
If you are playing this game then it means you obviously had access to at least $200 before to get the required system and an internet connection so you could have chosen then to "donate it" but you chose to spend it ona bunch of shiny pixels.

What can I say... I'm glad there are people like you here to pull me out of the sadness I mentioned before. Thank you

It has nothing to do with how much money you make. I don't care if you're Bill Gates, someone who makes $100k or more should still understand the value of money, and the value of a cosmetic item. It all just comes down to a matter of opinion, really.
If spending $200-300 for a cosmetic mount seems worth it to you, then congrats at finding something that makes you happy and don't let others ruin it for you.
As for myself, even with money to spend, I'm not interested in investing $200-300 on a mount. For me, it isn't worth that much. And even if I was making $200k, it still would not be worth it. No amount of money that I make will suddenly make spending $200-300 on a singular cosmetic item worth it. But again, that's just how I value my money.

But considering just how many games get away with the whole micro-transactions, loot boxes, crates and other crap - I daresay your type of "gamers" sure do have enough negative influence in the industry.
I got my Apex Guar from free crates. RNG was generous. Never bought any for crowns. That's a brilliant idea to give free crates. Makes me smiling any time I see people paying $$$ for this stuff .

i was rocking that standard sorrel horse for like a year, up until i got some kind of bear mount in a free crate in the winter.
i'm still rocking that mount. i got another free one around the time of clockwork city i think but its ugly and its like a robotic spider or some crap. so i just use the bear.
no way am i spending money on a potential chance that i might actually get a bunch of extra pixels in a video game instead of just the usual soul gem, crown repair kits, and a boat load of potions and poisons and all that other lovely useless crate filler that goes straight to gem extraction. they can find someone else to pray on with those kind of tactics. if i want to risk money at a potential chance of something, i'll do it at our casino.
hell even if they tried to sell these seperately on the crown store, i still wouldn't bite, because i know damn well theyd want to charge an arm and a leg for it just like everything else. i'd rather go and spend that same amount of money on a couple AAA games off of steam rather than some mount or virtual house. and lol at the "limited time only" houses and such. seriously gtfo with that impulse buying tactic. i dare these guys to even try to come up with an excuse to justify that crap, and explain why it might even be practical that if i want to access content that is already on my hard drive in the games very files, i'll not only have to spend money for it, but i'll have to do it right now, rather than tomorrow when they make that option magically disappear. thats slimy.
sure i love the game for what it is, and i can see why people would want some of these items, but the methods of obtaining them are just too outrageous in my opinion. you either pay a fortune in crowns for it, or you can gamble away hundreds, even thousands of dollars and might not even get that item you wanted. thats pretty sleazy. what is this a free-to-play mobile game? what ever happened to the good ole days, where you could unlock the cool stuff just by, you know, playing the game?
Ihatenightblades wrote: »I agree with a lot you said and thats why i have my own limit. Every individual has their own breaking point of when to stop doing something before they start feeling it in their stomach in a bad way. For me 250$ doesnt hurt me even if i get none of the things I want ( which hasnt happened ) but the reason my limit is 250 is because after 250$ worth of crates i feel as im just getting repeats of things i dont need and I usually have most of things in crates after that much but to keep on buying and buying and buying hoping for 1 thing is crazy imo no matter how much u got. 250$ every 3-4 months is my method and i dnt regret it
